Representations

A Representation …

is a depiction or construction of events or people as interpreted by its producer, creator or viewer.

Or in other words…

words, images, sounds or stories that stand for something else like ideas, people, groups, places, emotions or things.

A red rose may be just a flower but it can also represent love, passion, or gratitude.

What could this image represent?

Representations can appear in many different forms. They can depict:• Individuals• Social groups• Institutions• Ideas• Events• issues

represents or re-presents places, people, things, ideas and situations through a process of selection and construction.

Select one of the following products or negotiate a product with Ms Henriksen.

Cigarettes

Alcohol

Sunscreen

Coke or Fanta

Find a selection of images, advertisements, excerpts from films and write about how that product is represented through the ages.You will need a minimum of 5 and max of 10 examples. Your analysis should be done as a powerpoint or keynote presentation. Make sure you put the links to the examples or the actual images in your presentation and email through the ultranet preferably to oliver.debbie.a@edumail.vic.gov.au.
