Reggae
Reggae is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional Mento and calypso music, as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rock steady.
Example 1- Bob Marley-I shot the Sheriff
The music video of this song was actually done live while bob marley sang this song. In this we can see the single-shot of the artist whilst on stage and performing.
Over here the artists of the band are shown who add to the feel of the
song.
The vocals at the back
are very important in
Reggae, they allow
for the song to flow in a complete
circle without a
break.
The location
As it can be seen that the setting for this music video was done in a live situation without any special effects or such. There is a stage and an audience and everything is made live.
The make-up
The long-hair or dreads are part of the Jamaican customs, they symbolizes equality and every Rastafarian has dreads.
They provide a more free and open feel to the music and the player of the music. Without the worries of what the world would think about them one can truly be happy.
