NDSU Ag Trip—January 12

The following were the tours for the Ag Trip this year: • Converting Wheat Into Pasta • Wheat Grading and Wheat Seed Testing • Use of Ultrasound During Pregnancy in Livestock • NDSU Meat Lab About 50 youth and adults at-tended the Ag Trip this year. Thanks to Karen Weber for co-ordinating the trip!

WINTER 2007-2008

Helping Hands 4-H Club October 26, 2007 Meeting held at Weber’s home. Election of Officers was held. Heidi Eberhardt made cookies with white whole wheat flour. Red man-gos, red pears and red pome-granates were served. Club leader, Theresa Olson gave a lesson on Horse Training and Trimming. January 6, 2008 Voted to make cards and cookies for Valentine’s Day to distribute at nursing homes. Healthy snack was whole grain rotini and fresh vegetables. Recreation was ice skating party. Heidi gave a talk about the Cat Condo she made. February 29, 2008 Lessons were Glue Solu-tion—Tinkerbell Layered Pic-ture by Therese; K-nex Bow and Arrows by Nic; Kniffty Knitter by Cait. Healthy Snack was pink foods: grape-fruit, shrimp, port wine cheese and strawberry sher-bet. Recreation was race horse.

Believers 4-H Club October 21, 2007 Meeting held at the Wynd-mere Community Center. Demo on Latchhook by Lisa Vosberg. Collected food do-nations around town for the Richland/Wilkin Food Pantry. Put together kits for Opera-tion Big Band-Aid.

January 26, 2008 Betty Becker taught how to knit. Marley Foertsch served lunch. The club decided to make valentines and send a care package to Darcy’s nephew in Afghanistan for him and his unit.

Energizers 4-H Club (County Club)

November 10, 2007 Members met at the Wynd-mere Community Center. Sharon led a lesson on how to choose a healthy breakfast cereal. Fruit pizza was served. A wood project for a healthy 4-H club was worked on. January 26, 2008 Changed name of “County Club” to “Energizers 4-H Club”. Cassie gave a lesson on “Pretzels in a Bag” using whole grain flour. Extra activ-ity was painting on fruits and vegetables cut outs.

Ambassador

Joe Lepp is being congratulated by 4-H Council President, Sharon Rit-ten, and club leader, Karen Weber. Joe applied for and received the honor of being a State 4-H Ambas-sador.

CONGRATULATIONS, JOE!!!

Nicholas Weber competed in the 4-H Regional Rabbit Bowl in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on March 8, 2008. He was a member on the Clay County 4-H Senior Rabbit Bowl Team coached by Hank Weber. His team won First Place! As the Regional Champions they will compete in the Minnesota 4-H Rabbit Bowl on April 19, 2008 in Foley, Minnesota.

Therese Weber is Team Captain on the Clay County 4-H Jun-ior Rabbit Bowl Team that competed in the 4-H Regional Rabbit Bowl in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on March 8, 2008. The team coached by Karen Weber won First Place! As the Regional Champions they will compete in the Minnesota 4-H Rabbit Bowl on April 19, 2008 in Foley, Minnesota.
