Take Time to Appreciate the Wonder of the SeasonBy Char Glocke, Association Executive
Ho Ho Ho! Tis the Season to be Jolly! Not so much sometime! We get so busy during this time that we are not taking the time to stop and take a breather. Take a minute or two to just sit and reflect on the season and appreciate the time we can spend with family and friends.
I am so proud of the 50 members, their families and friends that spent a two hour shift ringing bells for the Salvation Army. This year we covered 9 locations. (See pics in this issue) What a great way for the members of our Association to give back to the Community. Not only did it raise money
that will be distributed to our community, but everyone had so much fun. Thanks again.
As I write this, we are working on the last details of the Holiday Party. It promises to be a great time for everyone. Check out the pics in this issue.
Thanks for renewing your membership and remaining part of our REALTOR® Association family! We appreciate you!
I wish you all joy and blessings during the Holiday Season!
Have a great month!

Safety Tips for Christmas Trees• Choose a tree with fresh, green needles that do
not fall off when touched.• Before placing the tree in the stand, cut 2 inches
from the base of the trunk• Make sure the tree is at least three feet away
from any heat source, like fireplaces, radiators, candles, heat vents, or lights.
• Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit• Add water to the tree daily• When lighting the tree, use lights that have
the label of a recognized testing laboratory• Replace any string of lights with worn or
broken cords or loose bulb connections• Never use lit candles to decorate the tree• Always turn off Christmas tree lights before

Tax Reform Update: Conferees Have Been NamedBoth the House and Senate have named the members of the conference committee. The committee will begin meeting next week, its goal is to send a final bill to the President by December 15, 2017. NAR will continue to run the most recent Call for Action until the committee finishes the legislation.
The Call for Action on tax reform now includes language on how to make the bill better for our industry. Be sure to take action and tell your members of Congress that incentives for homeownership and the capital gains tax exclusion on the sale of a home MUST be protected. Below you will find a list of the House and Senate conferees.

Key Points
• Parents are naturally interested in how their children will adjust to a new home and neighborhood, and usually there is no legal risk in responding to this question.
• This question may be an attempt by a homebuyer to indirectly ask you the face, religion, or nationality of the neighborhood’s residents
• This may be a question or trap set by a tester.
Areas of Liability
• If you respond to this question with information on the racial, religious, or ethnic backgrounds of the neighborhood residents, you could be open to charges of discrimination.
Actions to Take• Respond only to the question asked.
• Never volunteer information concerning race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or nationality of the residents in the neighborhood.
“Are my kids going to have other kids to play with?”
Caring for Your Holiday Tree
To keep your tree smelling fresh…
• Make a fresh cut across the trunk about 1” above the existing base.
• Give your tree a fresh drink of a variation of its own holiday cocktail.
Holiday Tree Cocktail(preservative)
1 quart fresh warm water½ cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon liquid chlorine bleach
Mix together in a two-gallon bucket. This will help keep the tree fresh because the fresh-cut tree will absorb and digest corn
syrup as an energy source.
…from the folks at KARO Corn SyrupThank You for Renewing Your
