ECE PLAY AREA IMPROVEMENTS BEGIN
Have you noticed the amazing pavement artworks that have brightened up our ECE play area?
Over the holidays our very talented staff member, Taryn Parker, worked to create pavement artworks that were not
only bright and welcoming but also promoted fun, gross motor skills and learning opportunities for our early
childhood students. Taryn, along with the other ECE staff, will continue to work together to add more artwork and
also extend this into the Junior Primary Play Area.

PYJAMA PARTY DRESS UP DAY
As a fundraiser to support Roebuck Primary School
students at interschool carnivals and the associated
travel costs, the school is holding a dress up day with
the theme of ‘Pyjama Party’.
The dress up day will be held on Thursday,
3 November (Week 4) and a gold coin donation is
asked to be passed on to your child’s classroom
teacher on the day of the event.
If participating, students are encouraged to wear
sensible outfits which are still within the Roebuck
Primary School dress standards in regards to covering
shoulders and the length of the garments worn. We
thank you for your generosity and help in this
fundraising activity and look forward to seeing you all in
your PJ’s!
HEAD LICE
There has been an outbreak of
head lice at the school. We are
asking that all parents examine
their child’s hair.
Head lice are very common so there is no need to be
alarmed, however they should be treated quickly to
prevent them from spreading.
A reminder to all parents to regularly check their
children for head lice.
Things to look for are:
Persistent scratching, particularly behind the ears
and nape of the neck, accompanied by a red
rash.
Tiny silver, white eggs at the base of the hair
shaft.
Small pale brown lice. You may wish to use a
magnifying glass and a fine toothcomb under
strong light to help identify lice.
If you discover your child has head lice, we
request they attend school once treated.
WHAT HAVE OUR STUDENTS BEEN UP TO!
ROEBUCKS GOT TALENT 2016
Roebucks Got Talent went off with a BANG this year!
All of the auditions super amazed the PA Team Judges
and it was hard to choose 13 acts to wow our school
audience in the talent showcase on the last day of
school. We had amazing singers, dancers and of
course who could forget Tex’s funny jokes or those
characters from the ‘BIG BABIES’!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all of the students who
made it through to the showcase and MASSIVE
thankyou to Mrs Bowtell and Miss Keeffe who stepped
in for Mrs Forde and facilitated the auditions this year!
Start practising your acts because every year the acts
are getting bigger and better!
ROEBUCK PRIMARY SCHOOL OPEN NIGHT 2016
On Wednesday, 21 September, Roebuck Primary School
opened its classrooms to parents, students and their
families. It gave the children the opportunity to show their
families what they have been learning across all school
subjects and to interact with teachers and staff in a
relaxed setting.
The classroom displays of students work was amazing
and informative. Other highlights included the robotics
display presented by ICT students and the music video
recorded throughout the year. A big thank you to the
P&C volunteers who cooked up a delicious dinner.
MARINE SAFETY DEMONSTRATION
On Thursday, 22 September a Marine Safety Junior
Crew program was presented to all Year 3, 4 and 5
classes.
Students practiced putting on a range of life vests,
explored the demonstration boat and witnessed two
flares being launched.
P&C NEWS
YEAR 6 CAMP BY LUCY & BELLA
The 2016 Year 6 Camp was a huge success; we all had an amazing time.
On behalf of all of the Year 6 students we would like to thank the wonderful staff at Willie Creek, the Bird
Observatory, the Museum, Cable Beach General Store, Sun Pictures, Monster Ball Amusements, Pearl Town Bus
Service and of course the Broome Camp School. Also, we all enjoyed the tours by Bart Pigram during the day and
the Astro Tour by Greg Quicke at night. We would also like to thank all of the parents and teachers who made the
camp possible.
Not only did we go on tours and visit several interesting local places, we also participated in a range of enjoyable
activities which included milk crate mountain, prusiking, tie dying, low ropes, fat bike rides, raft building, archery,
volleyball, and frisbee golf. Personally the highlight for me was when we went down to Cable Beach and we used
the boogie boards and stand up paddle boards.
A funny moment included when we playing spotlight and some of the people who were playing hid in funny places.
Another funny moment was when ‘Honk Boy’ (Riley) entered the talent show on Wednesday and did his honk boy
voice which is really funny and cool. We have no idea how he does it!
Year 6 camp was a great experience and a lot of fun!
