Romans 12:3
“How do I come to grips with the real me?”
Week One
Loving God & loving people
24/7 from the heart!!
What is true spirituality?
Relationship
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Week Two
Am I going to trust God?
OR
Am I going to trust myself?
Surrender
How do I give God what He wants the most?
(Romans 12:1)
Week ThreeHow do we get God’s best for our life?
•By getting serious about being intentional in our walk with God
•By refusing to compromise in spite of the cost
Conviction & Courage
(Romans 12:2)
TodayWho do you really think you are?
•Not what you want other people to think you are.•Not what you think other people think you are.
In the mirror of your soul, what do you see?Who are you?
(Romans 12:3-8)
We want…
•To look good for
others
•To find significance, value and acceptance
Our desperate longing for approval drives
us…•To seek•To look•To act•To be
What others want!
You Need to Understand
If you don’t get a sober self-assessment and understand who you really are, you will
never fulfill God’s call that He has for you!
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
NIV
Understand This…

Physical DNAHardships
Birth Order
ALL are used by a sovereign God to prepare you for your divine
assignment.
Ask Yourself These Things
•What were the values I was
taught?
•What were the beliefs I was
shown?
•Who were my heroes?
He is in control!
He wants to use it ALL for good!
It was true of Moses. And it’s true of you and
me!
Understand how we got to where we are now…
Also take a good look at how we view ourselves.
In Our Self Evaluation
Moses’ View of Himself•Was too high early in life•Power•Prestige•Abilities•Education•Background
•He tried to do God’s will his own way, in his own energy, and in his own power.
Moses’ Excuses At The Burning Bush – Exodus 3•I’m a nobody.•God Answers: “I’ll be with you.”
•I’m not smart enough.•God Answers: “I have made a path for you, they will believe you.”
•I’m not credible.•God Answers: “All you need to do is to trust me and get your focus off of yourself.”
•I’m not a very good speaker.•God Answers: “I’ve gifted you for this job.”
Moses is as reluctant as he can be and yet God’s
got his hand on him.
Amazing example of God’s mercy and grace
given to a man!
Romans 12:3a
“For by the grace given (to) me…”
NIV
Romans 12:3b
“…think of yourself with sober judgment in accordance with the measure of the faith that
God has given you.”
NIV
How do we think soberly about ourselves?
•By making faith the measure of our mind
•By making faith the measure of our heart
•By making faith the measure of our life
Faith is looking to Christ to measure, and guide our every step.
The Key to An Honest & Accurate Picture of Who We
Are…
Is knowing the foundation of our self-worth – which is
our identity in Christ
Apart from Jesus we can do nothing that has eternal value…
But in Him we are precious and capable of service for the
Kingdom of God!!
We need to see our true value in God’s eyes and walk as a
child of God instead of a child of the world.
