SIOBHAN MCGIBBONSiobhan McGibbon is the recipient of the Roscommon Visual Artists Forum Award. Her show is a new body of work, expanding on investigations undertaken during her on-going residency in Galway University Hospital, with a specific focus on anatomy, the medicalisation of the body, how “normal” is analysed within the medical field and the human experience within a medical environment.
Based in Roscommon, Siobhan graduated in 2009 from GMIT and was awarded Sculpture Student of the Year. In 2014 she received a scholarship from Limerick City of Culture to undertake a research led, practice based Masters in LCAD. Most recently Siobhan has exhibited in the 2014 RHA Annual, Linenhall Arts Centre, the Talbot Galley and 126 in Galway.
The Roscommon Visual Artists Forum was established to provide artists based in or around Roscommon with a platform to develop their practice. In response to this, Visual Art Curator in Residence Linda Shevlin, established the award. This forum is kindly supported by Roscommon County Council
