WehavereviewedyourconcernsregardingthesteepslopesthatwillbecreatedasaresultofnewroadsconstructedaspartoftheRoxWindproject.Weacknowledgeyourconcernsaboutprotectingourcontractors,aswellasmembersof thepublicwhomayrecreateonsite, fromthedangersassociatedwithsteepslopes.

Toaddressthisconcern,wehavediscussedthisissuewithourproject’sCivilEngineer,StantecInc.,andwiththeSargentCorporation,areputableCivilConstructionContractorwhohasbeeninvolved with numerous wind projects in Maine. Their recommendation based on theirexperiencewithotherMainewindprojects is to install aboulder fence tobe constructedofbouldersthatrangeinsizefrom0.75cubicyardsto1.5cubicyards.Theseboulderswouldbeplacedat spacing that is 8 feet apart inmost locations.At locations that are very steep, theboulderspacingwouldshrinkto6feetapart.ThefollowingarepicturesofthisboulderfencedeployedonotherMainewindprojects.
