RRM RPD Meter Details

RRM RPD Meter Working Principle

The RRM series type Rotary Gas Flow Meters work on the principle of Positive Displacement. The actual measurement is performed by two oval (8) shaped rotors rotating within a measurement chamber. During a full revolution of the rotor a xed volume is displaced from inlet to outlet of the meter. The RRM series rotary gas meter measurement chamber makes the two ovals (8)-shaped rotors to turn, the volume of gas closed between the measuring chamber walls and rotors is transported four

0times in one full cycle. The timing gears set the rotors at the angle of 90 one to the other. The gear train, and the hermetic magnetic coupling, transfers the rotor rotation to the index unit, which is separated from the pressure tight housing body. The actual volume of gas is indicated on the mechanical counter.

Gas entering into the body starts the Rotor

to rotate. In this position, gas is

captured.(1)

Rotors are rotating and now are at 90° angle and have captured

specic amount of gas.(2)

As s rotate further the gas ows at the outlet of the meter. Gas owing

out is equal to the volume captured at inlet.

With further rotation of impellers the gas ows

at the outlet of the meter. Gas owing out is equal to the volume captured at the inlet.

Raychem RPG rotary meters can be equipped (optional) with two Thermo-wells and two pressure tapping points. Therefore the rotary meters can be supplied with an Electronic Volume Conversion Device (EVCD). Raychem RPG offers a large variety in conversion devices so all required data can be provided and the best solution for every project can be assembled. Refer to the special brochure for more information about the Electronic Volume Conversion Devices Raychem RPG is able to supply or contact a local supplier.

Main Features

RRM RPD Meters can be used for various non - aggressive gas application. As the meter is based on Positive Displacement Principle, hence it can be installed without any straight runs and can work at high accuracy in low ow and turbulent ow condition. Some of the gas application and industry applications are mentioned below:

Metrological Characteristics

RRM series of rotary meter is calibrated with air at atmospheric pressure, which is traceable to NMI calibrated references. It has been proven – as part of the type approval testing - that the difference between the accuracy at atmospheric air and at high pressure natural gas is negligible.
