Phishing Attacks per Month
RSA identified 33,145 phishing attacks
in August, marking a 22% decrease from
July. Based on this figure, RSA estimates
phishing cost global organizations $282
million in losses.
US Bank Types Attacked
U.S. nationwide banks saw an increase in
phishing volume in August – from 59% to
72%. Phishing against credit unions more
than doubled from 5% to 12% last month.

Top Countries by Attack Volume
The U.S. remained the most targeted
country in August with 61% of phishing
volume. China, the Netherlands, the UK
and Canada were collectively targeted by
20% of total attacks.

Brands in the U.S., UK and Canada
accounted for over 40% of total phishing
volume in August.
Top Hosting Countries
Hong Kong remained the second top
hosting country for phishing in August with
13% of total attacks. The volume of attacks
hosted in Italy doubled from July – from
3% to 6%.
