THE LANTRY AWARD: That evening Fr. Albert Bunsic will be honored with the Lantry Award for his nearly 50 years of priesthood (ordained on June 3, 1967), a number of those served here at St. Therese—always with good cheer, a deep spirituality, and … lots of hugs! The Lantry Award is named after another of our Carmelite Friars, Fr. Jerome Lantry, OCD (2/7/20—4/16/13),
who was assigned to St. Therese from September 1994 until his death. Fr. Jerome, from County Offaly, Ireland, entered the Anglo-Irish Province of the Discalced Carmelites as a teen and was ordained on July 14, 1946.
Fr. Jerome held many positions of responsibility during his 66+ years as a priest, including Provincial of both the Anglo-Irish Province and the California-Arizona Province. His life was marked by an overall devotion to the whole of the Discalced Carmelite family. The award is named after him as his life was marked by intelligence, common sense, fortitude, and holiness—some of the qualities which we strive to instill in our students.

"Beloved souls, in suffering and in joy,
go to Jesus hidden in the Sacred Host and let the sweetness
of His loving gaze fill you. Like the
sick who expose their diseased bodies to the healing rays of the sun,
expose miseries, no matter what they
are, to the beams of light streaming forth from the Sacred Host."
-Jose Guadalupe Trevino
