Heating and Fire Safety
● Keep work area neat and free of extra materials● Never reach over a heat source or flame.● Point objects being heated away from you and
others.● Never heat an object in a closed container.● Always wear gloves when touching an object
that has been heated.● Do not throw hot substances into the trash.● Know where the fire extinguisher is.
Electrical Safety
● Always check cord to be sure it is not frayed
● Make sure cord is not where it can be tripped over.
● Do not let cord hang over the edge of your work surface.

container.

● Throw away extra chemicals where your teacher tells you to.
● Pour chemicals over the sink or work area.● If you get a chemical in your eye or on your skin
wash the area immediately.● Always wash your hands after handling
chemicals.
Glassware and Shap Object Safety
● If you break glassware dispose of it in the container labled “broken glass disposal”
● Do not use any broken or chipped glassware.Show your teacher.
● When using knive or scalpels always wear eye protection and cut away from you.
Animal Safety
● Never hurt an animal● Always wash hands
after handling animals.
Clean Up
● Follow teacher instructions for thowing away waste.
● Clean work area.● Pick up anything that
has fallen on the floor.● Wash your hands.
