Building Your Cardiac Arrest ‘Pit-Crew’
Dr. Beck serves as a Medical Director for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Fire Department, he assumed this position in 2012 after serving as Associate Medical Director from 2010-2012. He is credited with re-energizing the system with his street medicine perspective, leading efforts in Chicago to improve cardiac arrest care, airway management, pharmacy practices, inventory and control systems, physician led prehospital education, and implementing mo-bile integrated healthcare pilot projects. Dr. Beck is passionate about EMS education and research; he was a primary architect and currently serves as project director for Illinois Heart Rescue – an all-volunteer statewide collaboration to improve cardiac survival in Chicago. 2013 Maine Committee on Trauma Emergency Preparedness & Medical Response to Large-scale Incidents

Keynote Speakers: This year’s MCOT Conference will have a special focus on Emergency Preparedness and the medical response to large-scale incidents. Key-note speakers from the Boston Marathon bombings and the fertilizer plant explo-sion in West, Texas, plus other expert speakers, will compare rural to urban re-sponse in these and other recent disasters.
The MCOT Annual Conference is a shared endeavor of the Trauma Programs at Central Maine Medical Center, Eastern Maine Medical Center and Maine Medical Center, in collaboration with Atlantic Partners EMS. The conference is designed for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, EMS Providers, and other clinicians. The educational focus is on current issues and trends in trauma and critical care. Continuing education credits for physicians, nurses and EMS providers will be applied for through their respective credentialing agencies.

This years conference will focus on 2 critical areas for EMS Services: EMS Officer/Manager training and navigating the new healthcare environment. We spend a lot oftime and money training our EMS providers, but how much time is spent educatingyour supervisors? And, are your ready for the changes in Health Care that will have adramatic effect on EMS? If the changes have their desired effect, there will be a decrease in 911 calls and an increase in community outreach. Join us as we lay the groundwork for management and organizational development that will prepare you for thechallenges that lie ahead.
Saturday Evening is our EMS Awards Dinner and Banquet A relaxing dinner that focuses on honoring our award winners. We will be honoring EMS Services from Each Region that have shown commitment to making their community safe though public education and for promoting the EMS System, along our annual recognition of our Hall of Fame Award Winner. The Traditional Remembrance Table will be honored as well. Tickets are required for the Awards Banquet/Dinner and can be purchased at registration.
