Dhattura

Preparation

The distinctive flowing

trumpet of the Datura

stromonium variety.

If the trumpet points toward

the skies it signifies a devil’s

trumpet, a downward

direction indicates an angel’strumpet.

The scent from this plant is

amazingly rich and

intoxicating.

 After only 2 days of flowering

its trumpet will detach and

hang by a thread, allowing aseed pod to mature in its

place.

between the fingers should

split the seed casing.

If extra pressure is required

place the seed on a hard

work surface and press

downward against it.

The image opposite shows

Jayapala free of its outer

casing.

Caution: Gloves are

generally worn when

handling Jayapala due to

croton oil being exudedfrom the shelled seed.

Kuchala

Preparation

Place 100g of Kuchala seed

into a course cloth and fold

into a pottali bag.

Kuchala will need to be given

dola yantra at this point in its

purification processing.

Gorvara & Puta

Preparation

Scoop a small amount of

Gorvara into a plastic cake

mould and press the

contents down firmly to fill

the mould.

Using a raised stone or brick

base will make the job of

removing the cake easier.

Gorvara & Puta

Preparation

Gaja puta after about one

hour of burning.

During its 4 hour burning

period, this gaja puta

reached a temperature of

around 960°C
