Narendra Modi todayalleged that CBI was being mis-used and terror outfit IndianMujahideen given a "free hand"to settle political scores withhim and save "Congress'fortress" in elections as the partyfeels that it cannot stop him andBJP through democratic means.

"I feel that in the next elec-tions it would not by the trio ofSamajwadi Party, BSP andCongress which would be in theelection fray. I feel that in thenext elections CBI and IndianMujahideen... They would takecare of the elections so as tosave the fortress of Congress,"he said addressing a rally here.

The BJP Prime Ministerialcandidate alleged that his adver-saries are attacking him "frombehind like cowards" and chal-lenged them to fight him demo-cratically.

"One by one, the way inci-dents are taking place, it appearsthat those who could not defeatModi in Gujarat, who were beat-en badly in three elections andlost face who feel BJP and Modicannot be stopped through dem-ocratic means....

"They are now using othermeans- of sometimes puttingCBI after them, and at othertimes giving a free hand toIndian Mujahideen," he said.

Modi's reference to IMcomes in the wake of the serialbomb blasts suspected to be car-ried out by the terror outfit dur-ing his Patna rally of October 27which left seven persons deadand scores of others injured.

BJP has charged that theCentre has been lax in providingadequate security to Modi.

"Those doing politics withbombs, guns and pistols shouldlisten with open ears. I am bornof a different material. Neitherhave I bowed to terrorists, noram I going to bend before them.

"We will defeat them andfinish them from their roots....The bullets of terrorists cannotstop the country from its onwardjourney," Modi said.

Attacking the SP Governmentin Uttar Pradesh, he said it playedvotebank politics by putting twoUP BJP MLAs in jail in theMuzaffarnagar riots cases.

"I want to ask the rulers whatwas the reason that you put twoof our MLAs in jail. When yourcharges could not stand scrutinyand the court released them, youput them in jail on other charges.But they were released again,"he said.

He alleged that MulayamSingh-led Samajwadi Party,BSP or Congress had the "sameDNA" which made them workfor their own "selfish" gains.

The competition between theSP and Mayawati's BSP is whoindulges in "more corruption"and "who has more criminals inits midst", Modi said.

Praising Mamata Banerjee, hesaid she fights with the Centre forher State West Bengal. "But I have

seen that despite supporting theUPA Government, SP and BSPhave never asked anything for theState.... What they ask for is helpin the CBI cases and how to getrid of the problems with the CBI,"he said.

Congress and SamajawadiParty hit back by demanding aprobe into the "huge expenditure"on his rallies and alleged thatModi was misleading the peopleof UP by telling false stories ofdevelopment of a "small" State.

Uttar Pradesh MinisterMohd Azam Khan raked upModi's puppy remark and saidthose who have such a mindsetfor Muslims and are trying to"convert whole of India intoGujarat" cannot rule the countryor make it progress.

"Those who call one-fifthpopulation as 'puppy' cannot runthe country. The country wouldbe run by those, who love all andwhom all love," Khan said whileaddressing a gathering inMailani town

Stating that democracy wasbeing "undermined" in the coun-try, Modi alleged that an "advi-sory" was issued by the Centreto the TV media on why he wasshown "at par" with the primeminister while he was address-ing the nation from the Red Forton August 15.

"The advisory was issuedthis week for what was shownon last August 15. The centralGovernment was not concernedabout the honour of the primeminister but that on October 27when Rajnath Singh andNarendra Modi were addressingin Patna their 'shehzade' wasgiving a speech in Delhi," hesaid, in a reference to RahulGandhi's Delhi rally.

"Media's fault was thatthough they were showing the'shahzade', Modi was also seenand heard and so Congress wasfeeling frustrated," he said.

But Union Minister ManishTewari retorted by accusingModi of curbing media freedomin Gujarat.

The Information andBroadcasting minister defended

the advisory issued by his min-istry, saying that it only meantadvice and attacked Modi saying

he only made speeches andnever answered journalists'questions.(PTI)
