Eric and Linda Sorensonhave owned Delta TimberCompany, a lumber whole-saler in Delta, since 1990.When property adjacent tothe sawmill became avail-able, they purchased thatwith the intention of open-ing a retail lumber com-pany. “People were comingin constantly, wanting tobuy retail,” Linda said. Theyopened the Sawmill Outletat 595 Hwy. 92 in October2009. They are the only lum-ber retailer in Delta. “Thecommunity loves the avail-ability of rough cut lumber,”Linda said, who acts aspresident of the Outlet

while her husband runs thesawmill.

The Sawmill Outlet of-fers aspen tongue-and-groove interior paneling, surfaced pine and spruceboards, all produced at thesawmill. The Sorensonsoffer custom cutting on-siteof rough lumber in any di-mension, from smallerboards for shelving or trimto larger pieces used forranch work or construction.Sawer and yard foremanJustin Crandall has the ca-pability to craft beams up to12”x12” and bigger.

The Sawmill Outlet alsooffers products you can’t getat a typical lumberyard.Linda has cut and split fire-wood available, as well as

beautiful wood gift itemscreated by local craters, in-cluding pieces from EarlMarsh, Judy Edwards,Everett Stevens, Len John-son and Doug and JudyClawson. Everything fromlamps to doll beds to cuttingboards to wine racks to pic-ture frames can be seen inthe showroom. The BlackCanyon Wood CarversGuild meets weekly at theSawmill Outlet to carve.Linda said the group is fas-cinating to watch and theirresults are beautiful.

The Sawmill Outlet alsooffers wood mulch for land-scaping, mud protection, playground cover or animalbedding. Sawdust is avail-able too, as is bark for land-

scaping.“But the primary prod-

uct we offer is friendly andprompt service,” Linda said. That, and the opportunity tosave gas and support thelocal economy, are why theSorensons encourage shop-pers driving out of town fortheir lumber needs to checkout the Outlet first. Havingthe lumber produced justacross the driveway allows

the Sorensons to keep theirprices low, too.

The Sorensons’ daughter,Jessie French, joins the crewas manager.

Find the Outlet on theweb at sawmilloutlet.net orby phone at 874-WOOD(9663). Linda always wel-comes visitors, too. She isopen Monday-Friday 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9a.m. – noon.
