Hoots Helping Hands After School Program

The Beginning…

Hoots Helping Hands After School Program by CYI at Schiller School started January 26, 2015.

The program meets every Monday and Wednesday after school, 3:30 P.M.-4:30 P.M. through the end of April.

The focus of the program is improving Math skills in students who have been identified as struggling by their teachers.

At 3:15 P.M. the students meet in the library for a quick after school snack

At 3:30 P.M. students are dismissed to their grade level classroom to start working

Students are in classes no bigger than 10 students and are taught through various modes. Smartboards, iPads, and many

hands-on activities are planned.

Student Math grades are IMPROVING!!!

In just one quarter, over 74% of the students have brought their math letter grade up!

Students brought up their standardized math score by an average of 10.4% from the middle of the year test to the end of the year test!

First grade had 83% student attendance. Second grade had 91% student attendance. Third grade had 95% student attendance. Overall 90% student attendance!
