TRANSCRIPT

The Scotch Choral Course is a week-long course for singers aged 13-20, which provides intensive, fun days of training in singing and choral music. It is based on the Eton Choral Courses held in the UK since 1980 and now attended by 400 young singers throughout the summer months. The Scotch Choral Course will be led by the founder and director of the Eton Choral Courses, Ralph Allwood. The main focus of the course is the choir made up of all participants, which prepares for two or three main performances under Ralph Allwood. These will include an evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne and a visit to Trinity College, Melbourne University. The course is split into smaller consorts, working on unaccompanied music of varying styles. Students receive vocal training from experienced specialists. Advice on choral scholarships and on singing beyond school is given a high priority. The specialist vocal consultant on this course will be Merlyn Quaife.

“Quite honestly the most intensely demanding, rewarding, and happiest week of my life.”
