9 Benchmarking

NON SENECA system use a coupler module with CANopen interface and an internal bus communication between the coupler module and I/O’s (this is usually proprietary).

CANopen, is a standard communication system for decentralized and distributed control systems. Therefore there are a lot of different applications (i.e. automotive, machining, packaging) where the distance between sensors / actuators / HMI plays a key role. The benefits of effective remote and distributed I/O’s could become important.

Also for “small size” systems (few I/O’s) the coupler must be used and, in that case, the cost for the whole configuration is remarkable.
