Graduation RequirementsIn order to graduate, your senior

needs credit for:

• 4 Language Arts

• 4 Mathematics

• 4 Sciences

• 4 Social Studies classes

• 1 Health and Personal

Fitness

• 3 CTAE and/or Art and/or

Foreign Language

• 4 General Elective

Total of 23 credits (minimum)

Your Senior should have a Post-Secondary OptionTechnical or Two

Year College

Four Year College Military Workforce

• Complete and submit

College Admissions Process•Make a list of potential schools

•Compare your profile to the college’s freshman profile

•Review each school’s application• Online application (www.gafutures.org)

• Transcript (order in the counselor’s office for $2 or for free on www.gafutures.org)

• SAT/ACT fees (if you receive free or reduced lunch, see Ms. Bass in the Main Office)

• Recommendations (if needed)

• Counselor Recommendation, or school evaluation (must complete recommendation packet found on website)

• Teacher Recommendation (letter or form)

•For more assistance refer to the School Counseling website or contact your school counselor.

Teacher Recommendations

Get to know your teachers! The more they know about you, the more personal the recommendation!

Give teachers 3-4 weeks notice to write letters of recommendation.

Students must complete the Recommendations Questionnaire in Naviance.

Sometimes sent by mail directly to college.

Counselors need as much information as possible when preparing your recommendation.

Students must complete the Recommendations Questionnaire in Naviance.

3-4 weeks notice for Counselor forms/letters

Some colleges have their own form for counselors to fill out; check individual college websites to download the necessary forms.

Scholarship

•3.0 Hope GPA or higher

•Two year or four year degree

•Must graduate from a GA high school

•Must be a GA resident for at least one year

•Covers a percentage of tuition

Grant

•No GPA requirement

•Technical certificate or diploma

•Must have a high school diploma or GED

•Must be a GA resident for at least one year

•Covers a percentage of tuition

Apply for HOPE through FAFSA after October 1 of your

senior year.

Zell Miller (HOPE) Scholarship

3.7 Core GPA Required

1200 SAT Math and Reading/Verbal or 26 ACT

Two year or four year degree

Must graduate from a Georgia High School

Covers full tuition

GPA: What’s the difference?

Overall Weighted GPA: All grades count. Bonus QP are included (Honors, AP). Used to determine class rank. Listed on transcript.

Overall Unweighted GPA: All grades count. NO bonus QP are included. Also listed on transcript.

Academic (core) GPA: Only courses from Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Foreign Language count.
