TRANSCRIPT
It has been a busy summer at All Saints’. We said goodbye to Donna then Ken Brown.
The Search Committee continued working on its mission. Outreach and ECW stayed
focused on Food on Foot and Bingo. And all other ministries were hard at work. Thanks
to all of you for keeping up the work of this wonderful church.
We welcome back Father Rob Henley. Rob has been in and out of our Sanctuary more
than any other supply priest I can remember. We are very fortunate to have him back. Rob will not only be our Sunday
supply priest, he will have an extended supply contract with All Saints’. With this contract, Rob will also be taking care
of our Pastoral care needs (in conjunction with the Sharps), doing funerals, weddings, baptisms, all special services and
some education. He will provide Eucharist at All Saints’ School as needed. By the time all of you are reading this we
should know the status of the Sharps’ ordination and how much longer we will have them at All Saints’. So we will really
need Rob in this capacity. Once the Sharps’ status has been determined, Rob will be working out a weekly schedule for
us.
Rob provided me a brief autobiography of himself. Rob has a very diverse educational
background. He served in the army in the ‘60’s. Likes to drive race cars and motorcycles.
He and his wife, Russ, lived in a convent while attending seminary where they ate and
worshiped with the nuns for two years. His first church was in Michigan. Then he went
to Wyoming where he ministered at one church to “ranchers, cowboys and cowgirls.”
His second church was on an Indian reservation with two very distinct and conflicted
tribes. Right before Rob got there, their previous priest had been murdered. When their
daughters became school age, the Henleys moved back to their southern roots. Rob took
additional training in pastoral work and counseling. After many years in ministry and
serving on several Episcopal boards, Rob retired. He and Russ live in a ‘small house overlooking four ranges of
mountains’. They spend their time with their three grandchildren, doing church work... and Rob still likes playing with
race cars! I think with all of these qualifications, Rob is a good fit for our parish!
By now we would have had Rally Day. I hope all of you have signed up in a way to serve our church that matches the
gifts God gave you. This is a very devoted, hard working congregation, and I can’t wait for our new Rector to see what a
great parish he or she is coming to.
Thanks for continuing to fill the pews and the collection basket.
Marylou Mauney, Senior Warden

Our Wednesday evenings together are
back on the schedule!
Please join family and friends for a
simple meal followed by a variety
educational programs, guest speakers
and fellowship….and very important-
ly, we will continue our Food on Foot
ministry by preparing food bags.
Take a break from your harried
week...come relax, breathe, feed and be
fed!
It is with great pleasure and excitement
that we announce that our Deacons, the
Revs. Gigi & Jim Sharp, have been
approved by the Commission on Ministry
to move closer to the priesthood!
Details forthcoming...
Many thanks to each of you who took the time to utilize your UTO Blue Box (which isn't blue any longer.) Your thanksgiving for the blessings in your and your family's lives alllowed All Saints' to send $485.87 to the National UTO office where it will be added to the several million dollars that are distributed each year to various Episcopal missions and churches throughout the world. We did well! And remember this. None of these funds are used for administration costs. I hope that now summer is over, since school has started and we are back in the groove, that you resume the habit. UTO boxes are availa-ble in either the narthex or parish hall. THE ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE
This committee again urges all parishioners to consider potential nominees for the upcoming Vestry elections. The name of
any nominees can be presented to any member of the Administrative Committee: Raymond Lowry, Judy Anglin, Sarah Gose,
John Hutchins, Carol-Jean Webster and Judy Yates.
Continuing Excerpts and Comments Regarding The " ASEC By-laws Diocese of East Tennessee"
As we continue our search for new a Rector, Article IV-Governance which addresses the calling, duties and responsibilities of
The Rector are certainly of interest. For the purposes of this article certain parts of the By-laws have been bolded for empha-
sis.
"Article IV-Governance
Sec. 2 -The Rector The Rector shall be elected and called by the Vestry and shall serve according to the terms specified in both
national and diocesan canons. 1
(a) The Rector shall be the spiritual head of the Parish, and shall have full authority over and responsibility for the
conduct of worship and the spiritual jurisdiction of the parish.
(b) The Rector shall preside (but with the right to vote only in the event of a tie) at meetings of the Parish and of the
Vestry and shall have the powers and duties provided for in the Canons.2
(c) For the purposes of the office and for the full and free discharge of all functions and duties pertaining thereto, the
Rector shall at all times be entitled to the use and control of the Church and Parish Buildings together with all appurtenances
and and furniture, and to access to all records and registers maintained by or on behalf of the congregation. 3
(d) All assisting clergy serving in the parish, by whatever title designated, shall be selected in accordance with both
national canons and diocesan canons and shall serve under the authority and direction of the Rector. Should the Rector re-
sign, die or the pastoral relationship of the rector to the parish dissolve, the vestry should consult national canons and the
Bishop of the diocese for direction regarding the terms for any continuing service.
(e) It shall be the duty of the Rector to see that the conduct of worship is an offering for the glory of God and a help
to the people. Worship is conducted in accordance with the Book of Common Prayer and as authorized by the rubrics or by
General Convention of this church
(f) In fulfilling this responsibility the rector shall seek assistance from persons skilled in music. Together they shall see
that music is appropriate to the context in which it is used.
(g) The Rector shall have final authority in the administration of matters pertaining to worship, including music."
Article IV-Governance section 3 and section 4 deals with the Election of Officers and Duties of Officers. The officers are elected
annually by the newly constituted vestry and consist of Senior Warden and Junior Warden who shall be chosen from among
serving Vestry Members. A Treasurer and a Clerk are elected by the vestry and may be from outside vestry membership. The
duties of these officers are proscribed by The By-laws and can be reviewed by those interested at allsaintsdioet.org. The By-
laws can be found in the drop-down menu under Information.”

Here are some dates (in no particular order) you might want to add to your calendar.
Wednesday - September 14th at high noon, it will be Bingo time in Morristown again. Thanks to Jerry Feldman for
doing the calling for the August Bingo. ECW came through again with plenty of volunteers and a great lunch of ham,
turkey, mash potatoes and much more. So with that in mind, come down and help out if you can. Contact Marylou
Mauney if you want to make a dish to bring or just help out. I would recommend getting there at least by 11am.
If you're looking for a way out of cooking some evening think Wednesdays because Wednesday night dinners are
back this September. On the 6th and the 20th we will be filling the Food on Foot bags for the month. And that leads
into the next date, Saturday September 24th. That is the fourth Saturday of the month and that is when we assist
Food on Foot with handing out the bags of food we filled on the 6th and 20th. If you are so inclined to help out with
this be at Food on Foot (old Berkline Drive) @ 10:30AM on the 24th.
Another date to keep in mind is Saturday September 17th because the Zuva Marimba Band will be performing at
"Arts in the Park" in Morristown. "Arts in the Park" takes place at the Dr. Martin Luther King Park located at 350 W
9th North Street. Don't worry college football fans, the Marimba action starts at 10am and they play for about an
hour. You'll be home and on the couch for kickoff. Plus, Arts in the Park has more to offer than just marimba.
In September please bring in dog and cat food and bedding materials to be donated to Noah's Arc. It's the Fall Food
and Bedding materials drive for Noah's Arc. They do have dog and cat food preferences. Purina Dog chow for dogs
obviously and Friskies cat canned cat food PATE for cats. I added the capital lettering as it seems the kitties don't like
the Friskies shredded style cat food. Bedding materials they are not so specific. Clean used towels, sheets, blankets
are good as are new towels, sheets or blankets. There will be a designated area for donations in the parish hall. Sun-
day October 2nd is the culmination date for the drive.
This last item does not have a date attached to it. Hidden Treasures has added a Horticulturalist to their staff for the
coming year. This staff member will be directing and helping out the Hidden Treasures Academy students with the
garden beds on All Saints' property.
Thanks to you folks, all the above is done with enthusiasm and care. If you have an Outreach idea contact the Out-
reach Committee the members are listed below.
Outreach Committee members: Ginger Goolsby, Cookie Larken, John Hutchins, Sue Justis, Jackie Flemming, Marylou
Mauney and Larry McGowan.

Parish family and friends,
The season is changing once again and we are moving into fall. The search for a new rector continues… many, many thanks to our
search committee for all of their hard work. I am sure this must be a very challenging job and may we send up prayers to help with this glorious
decision!
Rally Day is August 28. There is always a need for more volunteers for the Altar Guild, Acolytes, Ushers and Greeters. All of these positions
are avery important parts of help to make our services run smoothly and each is critical to the beauty of offering up our spiritual prayers. Interest-
ed parish members, please contact myself, David Burnette, Gigi Sharp or our Sr. Warden, Marylou Mauney.
May God walk and watch over us and guide us! Remember God is love and so are we.
Thank you!
David Burnette, Liaison for Worship.

Every woman in our diocese and her guests are warm-ly encouraged to join our gathering. Our gathering will continue our theme of Building Bridges of Peace and Reconciliation within ourselves and our families. We’ll check in at St. Paul, Athens, on Sept. 10 at 9:30 am, share Eucharist together at 10, followed by lunch and keynote speaker, and present new offic-ers. All information and registration may be found at
The Parish Choir will resume prac-tice on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm in the choir room. Please contact or talk to Ryan if you are interested in joining the choir. If you are unsure if choir is a good idea for you, it is perfectly fine to try it for a few weeks before deciding if you want to continue. The Treble Choir will resume practice on Sunday, September 11. The choir meets downstairs in the choir room from 9:15-9:30. The Treble Choir is open to ages 4 through Grade 5, and after the rehearsal, students are taken to their Sunday School classes around the corner. Adults are welcome to stay during the rehearsals. In addition to singing, children get to play an assortment of percussion instruments, including a frog! You do not need to contact anyone before coming to rehearsal; just show up at 9:15 on September 11. If you play an instrument and would like to play at church on occasion, please let Ryan know. This is for any level of ability, and children and youth are especially encouraged to share their talents with instruments.

“Adopt” a College Student!
Many of our parish family’s children have grown up and gone off to college, and the Evangelism Committee wanted to find a way to keep in touch with them. John Hutchins came up with the great idea of Adopting a College Stu-dent. Beginning in September, you can “adopt” a student by agreeing to pray for them and to send them cards, care packages, and encouragement during the school year, to let them know you are thinking about them. If you are interested, or if your family has a college student who would like to be “adopted,” see John Hutchins or Cindy Selby to sign up. They will randomly select a college stu-dent for you.
Parish T-Shirts Available!
If you have not picked up your t-shirt or if you didn’t order one but want one, see Cindy Selby after church. We have extras in most sizes available for $15.00 each. We should all plan to wear these
shirts at any Out-And-About or community event. Thanks to Sheila at Screen Designs for her prompt printing job!
Online Parish Directory
If you are new* and have not yet gotten your family into our online parish directory, see MaryAnn Mills or Cindy Selby after church. We will take your picture, and enter it and your contact infor-mation into our directory, and we will show you how you can access the directory through the In-stant Church Directory app. It’s a great way to put names together with faces, and to be able to con-tact folks.
*Even if you haven’t officially joined our parish through baptism, reception, or confirmation, we want to get to know you (and for you to get to know us).
Do You Have a Heart for Welcoming People to All Saints’,
or Talking One-on-One About Your Spiritual Journey?
We would LOVE to have you join the Evangelism Committee! We meet on the first Monday of eve-ry month (unless announced otherwise) at 6:00pm in the Memorial Room downstairs. Our Septem-ber meeting has been moved due to Labor Day, to the following week: September 12th. Hope to

“committed to love, worship, proclaim, learn and serve Our Lord”
Dear Friends! Your Search Committee, first, wants to thank you for your prayers and patience! We met with Canon Grace at the end of July and re-opened the Search for our Rector position again. We have been assured by the Bishop and the Canon the Fall is a better time to solicit candidates! We should receive names of candidates at the end of September and shortly after that begin the interview process. We are all encouraged as we move forward! Continue to pray that our Spiritual Leader is now out there waiting for us! We appreciate your patience and prayers! Please take the opportunity to read the Search Committee Prayer in the front of your All Saints’ Profile or look it up on our website! We may have been charged with this search but it is your prayers that sustain us! Thank You! Your Search Committee
