Commissioning Service: Parents are invited to join the
students and faculty as we kick off our week of serving in the
community. On Friday, October 4 at 8:40 a.m. we will come
together as a school to pray for the projects, our students, and
all of the community partners we will serve during the week
of October 7-11. The service will be held in the Worship
Center. Come join us!
Celebration Service: As we wrap up our week of serving in
the community, we will have a Celebration Service on Friday,
October 11 at 1:45 p.m. in the Worship Center. Parents are
invited to join us as we reflect on our week of service and
celebrate the service projects we were able to complete that
week.

News and Notes
17th Annual All-School Picnic a GREAT Success
A great time was had by all at the Back-to-School Picnic! Many parents, faculty, staff and students
and alumni attended the picnic/movie night; the entire ICS family enjoyed getting together. God
also blessed us with great weather. Special thanks to Laura Tweed and Jenny Britton from the
Development Team, the ICS School Board, Jodi Duke, PTF President, all the PTF volunteers, and
many more who helped. Additional thanks to all the vendors who came out to support ICS.
Special thanks to our sponsors, The Nellis Group Re/Max Allegiance, The Elliott Team, Sidekick
Sportswear.
First Look Fridays
We are very excited about our First Look Fridays to start this year. First Look Fridays are Open
Houses scheduled on Friday mornings from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. To check for dates click here.
Current ICS parents will take interested prospective parents/families on a tour of our campus.
Please spread the word - tell friends, neighbors and acquaintances!
Grandparents' Day: Friday, December 20
Please update your grandparent information on ParentsWeb. Since 1995 we have been inviting
grandparents to ICS to be a part of our school-wide Christmas Chapel. Grandparents are a special
part of Immanuel Christian School and we enjoy the opportunity to include them in the life of our
school. In about a month you will receive invitations to mail to the grandparents. To update
grandparent information log in to Parents Web, then click the name of the person whose
information you want to update.
We want you...for Rocketry Club
We are looking for a parent who has "The Right Stuff!" The ICS Rocketry Club needs a parent
mentor who can assist the student team in designing, building and flying a model rocket. Working
with the faculty supervisor, the Rocket Club Mentor Parent would meet with the club twice a
month between October and April to guide the students through the design and build process, and
attend the TARC launches in March and April to qualify our rocket for the national competition.
The school will provide the supplies and the computer simulation software - all we need is your
expertise and experience! If you are interested, please contact Marty Crabtree.
Math Enrichment: Stem Ambassadors
A large group of students have met with Mrs. Ferrell several times
since the start of the school year. The purpose of the meetings has
been to identify areas of interest in the fields of science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics that the students would like to
promote within the school community. The meetings were very
productive and resulted in the selection of student "stembassadors."
These stembassadors will organize activities in which they share,
encourage, develop, and promote interest in STEM-related endeavors.
Free Money Programs: Help ICS - It's time to Designate ICS for
Grocery Stores
Every year you can designate ICS with your grocery store's Bonus
Club/Discount Card program. Giant and Safeway stores (and others) will
donate part of your store purchases if you designate ICS as your
fundraising choice by adding our school code to your shopping card.
Information is listed below for easy access to store websites:
1. Giant Bonus Card: Sign up at any Giant store or by going to
www.giantfood.com/aplus. Our school code is 02077. Credit for your purchases made
between October and April goes directly to ICS. Please renew now to avoid a lapse in
participation.
2. Safeway Club Card: In order to participate using your Safeway Club Card, you must
designate your donation to ICS each year by using Safeway's website www.escrip.com.
The ICS identification number if 6518952.
3. Harris Teeter: As you check out, ask the cashier to link your VIC card to our school or
register online at www.harristeeter.com. Our school ID number is 5117.
4. Target: Using your Target Visa or Red Card, you can designate ICS as your school of
choice. Our school ID is 23735.
5. Office Depot: Use our school code 70104941 at checkout for ICS to receive a donation.
Gift Cards: Give them as gifts or use them yourselves!
Gift cards for select area merchants are available for purchase through the ICS office. Stores such as
Starbucks, Panera, Domino's Pizza, Chipotle, grocery stores, etc. are always on hand. You can buy
the cards from ICS at their face value and use them to shop at your regular store or restaurant or
give the cards as gifts. The merchant gives ICS a rebate based on the value of the card. Click here
to access the order form and instructions or stop by Reception for a form. Earn money for ICS
while you shop.
Combined Federal Campaign
In addition to the programs above, federal employees can contribute to ICS through payroll
deductions using ID #74453.
Parents in Prayer
Every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., a group of parents (and even grandparents!) meet to pray for our
school and its needs. Teachers, students, and special events are all lifted in prayer to our Lord.
How vital this ministry is to our school! Please join our group of faithful prayer warriors who
gather in B201, at the end of the 8th grade hallway, for a half hour of prayer on Tuesday mornings.
Your child's class will be lifted up specifically during the year. Contact Mary Sue Smith in
Reception for more information. You are welcome any Tuesday and specifically when your child's
class is featured. An ICS Prayer Guide is sent by email every 3 weeks to each family and is also
available on the website.
ICS Elementary Choir Has Begun
The ICS Elementary Choir is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students, directed by Cindy Wade. Choir
meets most every Monday afternoon from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in the Choir Seminar Room. Complete
the online form on ParentsWeb and join the fun. Be sure to note which dates the choir meets.
Check on the website calendar and the choir Webform. Please contact Cindy Wade if you have
questions.

Hot Lunch Help Needed
Servers Needed: We are in need of 5 to 6 parents to serve hot lunch each week. It is a once a
month commitment on Wednesdays between 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. This is a great way to satisfy
your Parent Service Hours. It is always a blessing to serve side by side as a team interacting with
the students and other ICS parents. We'll even treat you to lunch. If you are interested in helping,
please contact Lori Slattery or call her cell at 703.338.8828.
