SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2021 CLASSES – Come Learn with Us!
Beginner Knitting! Whether you are just starting or refreshing your skills, this class is for you! Learn all of the knitting basics. Cast on, knit and purl
stitch, cable, basic button hole and bind off to name a few. At the end you will have a fantastic project that will launch your skills
into your next creation! There will be five 2-hour classes.

Beginner Crochet! Over this five-week class you will be introduced to basic crochet stitches, increases, and stitch
identification. In addition, you will learn to create a Fan stitch border. Your final week will be
set aside for learning how to weave in ends and blocking. You can choose a gradient yarn or pair
colorful tonals for a plainer version. Add a contrasting border and voila...ready for Fall!

Workshops & Other Classes… Crochet your Pumpkins Here! Start the fall season off right with this lovely crochet pumpkin. During this workshop you will
learn all of the important pieces in order to complete one pumpkin and surely, you’ll be “hooked!”
These cuties are great for decorating for Halloween or your Thanksgiving table. Make them small
for name place cards or large for centerpieces, you decide!

Mystery Crochet Stitch…Can you solve the mystery? We can’t ignore the crocheters! The mystery knit stitch was such a hit that we decided to spread the
fun. There are only so many stitches to learn; sl st, sc, hdc and dc to name a few. This workshop is
designed to introduce you to a variety of technical stitches and how they can be mixed to excite you.
Bring your yarn, bring your hook and most importantly, bring your A-game. Can you solve the
mystery? Feel free to bring something snacky to share with the class.

Crochet Slouch Hat! Try your hand at pairing fun crochet stitches while making this comfy slouch hat; all to create
unique stitch patterns. Learn the magic circle, use your single crochet, half double crochet, and

Layered Stitch Crochet Cowl! Once you are familiar with your crochet stitches, manipulating the placement of them is when the
fun begins. This cowl is nothing short of a color adventure. Learn to work with two colors in the round,
crochet chart reading and to really identify your work. This is crochet cowl is one of our favorites!

Building Blocks Blanket! You will learn so much while knitting this beautiful Afghan. Designed by Michele Hunter to increase
your knitting skills in manageable bites. Each of the 12 blocks will introduce you to a new stitch and
technique, "building" on the last one learned. After all the blocks are completed, we will block, seam,
and finish the blanket with a gorgeous edge. Knit with Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash,
Encore, Mirasol Sisa or Ella Rae Cashmereno Aran. This is an 8-month commitment!

First Hat! Keep your head warm this fall/winter wearing this unisex cabled hat. Knit in the round from the bottom
up, learn all basics of hat knitting including, joining in the round, sizing, crown decreasing, and using
Double Point Needles to finish the top. This is a great first cable project! Treat yourself with a touch
of Alpaca or Merino with our yarn suggestions below!

Stranded Hat! A hat is a perfect introduction to stranded knitting. Learn all the essentials to stranding including
working with multiple colors in a row, floats, trapping, and reading a color chart. Knit in slow color
changing Feederbrook Entropy, this is sure to be a stunning hat!

First Mitt! Self-striping yarn does all the hard work in this quick and colorful mitt. It can be knit as a full
mitt or leave off the top and let your fingertips be free. If you have dreamed of knitting 5-fingered
gloves, this class is a must needed first step. This is also a great class for learning the Magic Loop
technique.

Circular Knitting Workshop! Are you tired of knitting back and forth on scarves? Then this is the workshop for you. In this
3-hour class you will learn how to knit in the round using circular needles. We will show you
several methods of joining in the round, keeping track of your rounds, identifying your stitches
in the round, and how to bind off. You'll go home having started on a colorful cowl, the perfect
project for exploring circular knitting.

Destin Shawl! This shawl could be your first or your 15

! It is a creative new shawl design worked from the
bottom up in two distinct sections. You will learn a bobble cast on, eyelets, and buttonholes
in the first section. And in the second, learn to work short rows to create a lovely crescent
shape. Finish your shawl with a stretchy Icelandic bind off. Select your favorite Spring/Summer
colors for wearing on a Sunny vacation or if Fall or Winter are your favorite seasons…you get
the idea. Time to pick a color!

Cable, Lace…Block! If you have never cabled or worked lace, then this class is for you. Learn all of the ins and outs
to cabling while also learning how to read a chart in order to create lace. The result is a beautiful
scarf. It was designed in two weights; fingering or for those who prefer working with larger needles,
you can pair it with a mohair and knit swiftly to your hearts content. Join the two created halves
with a Kitchner stitch and you will be looking stylish all year through!

Basic Brioche! Playing with different stitch patterns is one of our favorite things to do here at Rows of PurL,
especially Brioche! Minus the calories, this pattern is fluffy, reversible and full of learning. In
this class you will learn about brioche worked flat with one color, fixing mistakes, finishing
and making those fantastic tassels. All of this will prepare you for your next challenge, working
two-color brioche flat with increases and decreases! Can you guess which project that is??

Time for Traveling Brioche! Take your Brioche to the next level with increases to create a multitude of shapes. This project
is worked flat, blocked and then seamed in the round to complete the look. Working two-color
brioche flat is known to be a bit challenging, though with this repetitive pattern you will become

Snug Baby Sweater This adorable hooded baby sweater is simple in appearance but loaded with fun techniques.
Knitted in Juniper Moon Bud cotton, its worked side to side in garter stitch. Master a provisional
cast on, garter stitch in the round, picking up stitches, and grafting garter stitches together.

First Poncho! Back by popular demand! This colorful poncho is perfect for those cool summer nights and fall days. This poncho is constructed
flat with just a few stitches to close up the arm hole. The different stitch patterns and changing color work makes this a fun project
to work on. You will learn to change colors, linen stitch, seed stitch, binding off in the middle of
the fabric and casting on in the middle of the fabric.

Wrapped-up in Cables! Wrap yourself up in this gorgeous cable and lace patterned sweater scarf. Yes, that's right, it is a
scarf with sleeves! Knit this piece in a long straight rectangle and then seem at the sleeves. You will
learn pattern work and how to read your stitches in order to ditch the pattern. Once you get going
it is addictive! This garment is not only stylish but the perfect complement to those cool Fall
days and nights.

First Sport Weight Sock! Learn all the foundations of top-down sock knitting. Stretchy cast-ons, heel flaps and gussets, picking up
stitches, foot sizing, and Kitchener stitch. Sport weight yarn makes these knit up fast and easy. You can
choose to use Magic loop or double point needles. Pick a color!

Afterthought Heel Workshop! Explore what it means to “cut in a heel”. We will teach you step by step how and when to use an
afterthought heel, placement, and the scary part, cutting your sock to knit in the heel! The
afterthought heel is also a great technique for replacing heels on old hand knit socks.

Variations in Short-row Heels! In this 3-hour workshop we will explore the short row heel, for both top-down and toe-up
socks. Learn how to avoid holes, how to substitute the heel in any pattern, and explore all
fun variations such as the Sweet Tomato & Fish lips Kiss heel.

to know about gauge. The result is confidence when swatching, selecting sizes of any kind, starting projects and finishing! It is one of
the most important items to learn about when it comes to knitting and crocheting
if you want your stitches to look pretty and your garments to fit! Join this

Reversible Fabric Workshop! Can you guess who is teaching this workshop?? If you are detail oriented, for example
the pattern on the front of a sweater must match the back, (or you’re not buying it) then
reversible knit fabrics may be for you. They are great for so many projects from baby
blanket to scarves to so much more. Learn about a variety of stitch patterns and what
makes them reversible (or not) and how you can apply this to your stash…or my new
scarf pattern!

Fall into Susan B. Anderson! If you haven’t heard of Susan B Anderson, let us be the first to introduce you. She
is an amazing designer of all things small and child-like. She also loves celebrating
holiday themes. (And we all love those!) You can however choose any weight yarn
and adjust your sizing as desired. Learn many new skills such as creating eye cords,
yarn overs, how to use dpns and many fun finishing options.

Mobile or Not to Mobile! Join one class and make your favorite woodland animal or sign up for them all and end up with an amazing collection of ornaments, a woodland mobile or a wreath! Learn to needle felt in the bear
class and add to your skills with every class. In the last class we will make owls and leaves or felted
balls and assemble your mobile or wreath. Or you can pull strings through all your creations to have
a new set of ornaments to keep for yourself or give as gifts.

Wet Felted Candle Holder! Learn the magic of wet felting and create a candle holder that will impress during the coming holidays.
You will learn how to lay out fine merino wool fiber, create surface texture and felt around a resist
using soap and water. Then we will shape the wool to fit completely around a glass candle holder.
The end results will have you smiling and certainly impress! Supplies included.

Wet Felted Hat! The next step in your wet felting journey…learn to make a 3-D form using a resist and make a
one-of-a-kind hat just for you, using only wool, soap and water. The teacher will guide you through
all of the steps. After your basic hat form is complete you will learn to embellish your hat with needle
felt and or stitching techniques. Prior wet felting experience is useful but not necessary. Choose your
favorite colors and make a hat suited to fit your head. Supplies included. Skill level: Been There...Advanced Beginner

Dyed Sock Blanks! In this class you will explore how to hand paint fabric dye blanks to create yarns of your own design. Class will cover fiber
preparation, dye mixing and application and heat setting. Using some simple color theory tips and design principles, your
sock blanks and whatever you make with them original works of art. Use your finished yarn in a future class to
create a one-of-kind item unique to you! Finished yarn will be fingering weight and
suitable for knitting, crochet, and weaving. You may dye up to two sock blanks in this
class, totaling approximately 463 yds each and have the option to add contrasting minis.
