Account – identify a user

• Principle of personal accounts • Functional accounts

• You get an account because you are nominated• You get nominated for as specific topic (relate to table in session 1 with

themes)

• System needs information who is interacting for dealing with permissions

• Main distinction – Anonymous user – anybody from the web– Authenticated user – somebody who has an account

My account

• An account is created on request for you• You get a so called user ID and a password

• This credentials you use to make you “known” to the system and get access to parts with are only for authenticated users

• Used for EIONET and EIONET Forum

• You are in full control of your account

• Use the account service “Edit my user profile”• Available from all pages (left side)

• To enable listing of users with photos, e.g. from meeting participants

• Account services - edit my account – profile picture - upload

Other accounts – the directory

• Contains all users registered• That a user has an accounts is publicly available• Details are restricted to authenticated user • Nominations as NRC or NFP are public

• The directory is located on EIONET front page• You can search

Roles – group of accounts

• Group of users• Accounts are linked to roles– Can be member in many roles– Add or remove in a role does not change your account

• For EIONET the roles have a dedicated structure• We use a naming convention– EIONET-…….. For all members of EIONET– EEA-…… for all EEA groups (staff, management board,

scientific committee)– EXTRANET-…… for all groups we need in other context

• You can freely access the roles
