ACTIVITES TO DO AT HOME Dear Parents,

“Despite the hot Sun, we can still have a lot of fun, so vacation is here for a sweet

retreat”. Summer holidays are round the corner and some fruitful activities are

designed at RDPS to enhance children’s creativity and innovation for the

progressive learning.

Help your child to do it:

Morning Blessings: Help your child inculcate good habits like

doing“SuryaPranam”& encourage him/her to greet all elders in the morning.

Healthy Routine:’A healthy mind resides in a healthy body’, so start your

day early and set a routine even during vacations.

Encourage your ward to wake up early in the morning and take care of

personal hygiene by inculcating the following habits:

Brushing teeth twice daily.

Combing hair regularly.

Bathing every day.

Washing hands before and after meals.

Trimming the nails and keeping them clean.

Take your child for regular morning walk to breathe in fresh air.

Encourage your child to drink lots of water, eat fresh fruits and green

vegetables to beat the heat.

Use of Golden words: Inculcate the feelings of empathy, affection and

tolerance in your children . Teach them to love and respect their elders and

run small errands for them .Inculcate the habit of using Please , Sorry ,

Thank you ,Excuse Me in your ward and try to converse in English with

him /her (Simple sentences).

Fun in Knowing:

Tell the child about your childhood, share incidents from the past and show

him/her old family albums. This will strengthen the bond between you and

your child.

Tell bed time story to your child.

Ask your child to share his/her daily routine with his /her Grand Parents.

Encourage your child to converse freely with visitor or relatives who come

over to the house.

Fun with Books:

Read English and Hindi stories to your child with morals and

colourful illustrations.

Fun with family: Make use of these holidays and spend quality time

together as a family and make your child feel special. Explore their

creativity and engage him /her in activities based on enhancing his /her

powers of observation and imagination.

Encourage your child to play board games e.g: Ludo, Carrom , Chess etc.

Collect pebbles and paint them with your child.

Collect leaves and make a collage with your child,let them feel the texture

of the trunk and the leaves.

Collect things that belong to different rooms in the house and ask your child

to name the objects and the room which they belong to. Help them place the

things back at the right place.

Take your child for an outing at least once in a week. When you are on a

road trip, talk to your children about surroundings. If you are going through

a village, you should explain that this is a village. Point out the fields , trees

, Flowers, animals, water bodies.

Go for shopping together and tell your child about market and mall

differences, about the things, items and material purchased from there.

Let your child help in your household chores like cleaning windows,

dusting and many more.

Tell your child to look after plants at home. Water them regularly. Let him

see /her see what happens to them if he/she forgets to water them foe a day

or two.

Cook dinner together and show them how to measure 1 cup,1/2 cup, 1

teaspoon etc. Start naming the food groups when you serve them.

Help your child to memorize the home address and your phone numbers

too.

Fun in learning: Encourage your child to be self dependent by doing

his/her personal work-

Tying up of shoe laces.

Putting on /off socks

Dressing and undressing himself/herself

Folding napkin and apron on their own.

Open and close his/her water bottle, lunch box and school bag.

Eat lunch on your own

Buttoning of shirt.

Zipping and Unzipping.
