YOUTH SCHOOL

What is a Youth School

The first Youth school in Lithuania was established in

1993.

Currently, Lithuania has 24 youth schools.

Youth schools exist in all European countries, but are

called differently:

"Effective training school", "Last Chance," Educational and

social adjustment classes and so on.

This school - is an alternative of the usual educational

institution.

72 students are studying at our school:

58 boys and 14 girls

There are 7 grades.

There are approximately 10 students in

each grade.

We have 3 terms.

The educational workload has

been reduced

An interdisciplinary integration (Plan).

Two teachers work during the lesson and

instead of two lessons students have only one.

Civics / History / Lithuanian for the 10th grade

History / Lithuanian for the 6-7 grades.

Chemistry / Biology / Physics / pre-vocational

Further activities of pupils

About 80% of the students who

graduated from the youth school gain

vocational or secondary education, some

of them are studying in higher education.

The Youth school is there for children to help

them gain will to study again, to better

understand oneself. It helps to chose an

appropriate profession and to regain trust in

oneself.
