Microsoft Campus Agreement
• IUC has received responses to a reseller RFP for all Higher Education in Ohio
• Current MS Campus Agreement (exact same terms, exact same products) can be extended, with our same reseller, for one more year.– ECAL pricing is different for extension
• Four responses, including our current vendor, SHI
Microsoft Reseller: SHI
• Seeking both positive and negative experiences
• Seeking general issues, ways to improve
• If SHI won the bid from the IUC, what contract requirements would help improve the situation?
ECAL: What is it?
• Enterprise Client Access License
• A Client Access License enables you to connect devices or user accounts to Microsoft Servers.
• An addition to the CoreCAL we are currently licensed for
• Roughly half the University is currently uplifted to ECAL

• Changes:– No Sun Solaris support from this release on– 2010a for Fac/Staff will be available for
download– 2009b will be removed from OSU SLS– 2009a, used by Engineering, will remain
Distribution and Funding
• Funding responsibility will be shifting from Site Licensing to primary users– Some of this has already started:
• SAS, SigmaPlot, and Parallels users are paying 100% of the license
• Site Licensing is discussing SPSS funding with primary users• Tallying SLS use and understanding patterns is in progress
• As products come up for renewal, more shifts will take place– Site Licensing is working to find ways to communicate
quickly and effectively when new funding sources are required.
New Licenses
• ReadSpeaker– Ken Petri, Web Accessibility Center, has
driven this purchase– Creates an audio track from the text on the
page and “reads” the page to the end-user.– No local installation necessary: installs are
server side– Should be available very soon
Upgrades
• Cisco AnyConnect VPN service– Allows x64 connections to a VPN service– This is a different product than the old IPsec
client (CiscoVPN Client)– Should be announced later today or early
tomorrow
Renewals
• Powerterm Pro (maintenance)
• Parallels (maintenance)
• PGP (maintenance, decrease in copy count)
• NVivo (maintenance, decrease in copy count)
