DESCRIPTION

Skills Mission - India 'Skills Capital of the World'Can India become the ‘Skills Capital of the World’ by 2022?Current scenario:India has 484 million skilled people (age group 18-58) and it has to reach 780 million skilled people to achieve ‘Skill Capital’ status by 2022.My perspective:‘Winning doesn’t always mean being first winning means you’re doing better than you’ve done before’ – Bonnie BlairIf we don’t produce 780 million skilled people, the number we fall short that many people in India will resort to anti social activity, violence and terrorism.India has lagged behind for several reasons in the race for economic development. However, the picture is not that dark for the future. I strongly believe, if we are able to exploit and develop the tremendous human resource of our nation, it is inevitable, as never before ever witnessed, to leap forward in the race for social and economic development. What we need is skills development. However, it is extremely essential to equip our youth with right skills which make them productive citizens of our society. Because, empowerment through the acquisition of knowledge is the only way in which those who have lagged behind in the race for social and economic development can catch up with the rest of the World and go beyond it.Please also refer to the ‘Skills Mission’ presentation on which I have been working for past 3 years as a National champion of CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) :http://www.4shared.com/file/120310541/2fefdf49/Mission_Skills_75.html
