System Configuration module
Module used to:
• Create a new IGSS project
• Set up the individual IGSS stations
• Set up and configure PLC drivers
• Configure SQL servers, etc.
Inside the module
The last configuration or
project worked on
Creating a new project
1. From scratch
2. With the Wizard
System Configuration Wizard
Give it a
name
Give it a
(storage)
location
Create all IGSS stations on one PC
All IGSS station types can be
created centrally on one PC -
usually the PC to be used as the
IGSS server.
Notice the green screen
next to the station name,
IGSS Server, which
indicates the station type to
be used on this PC.
Notice the number of tabs
visible to the right. On
these, the global
parameters for the system
are selected.
Operator station tabs
Notice the green screen
next to the station
name, OP_1, which
indicates the station
type to be used on this
PC.
Notice the different
tabs now visible
compared to the server
on the previous slide.
The IP address of the
IGSS server must
always be filled in on
an operator station.
Messages to operator station
On operator station, clicking the
starter brings up
the dialog box on the left.
If the IGSS configuration or
application on the server is
different from the one on the
operator station (also if it’s the
first time the operator station
is started) the dialog box on
the left appears. (Notice the
IP address at the top.)

Drivers and interfaces
Many different drivers (80+)
7T develops optimized driversfor IGSS
OPC fully supported byclient-side driver
Drivers
• Select Communication Driver dialog box shows all available drivers
• Specifications of available drivers for IGSS(see PLC Drivers Available on www.7t.dk)
• IGSS provides an OPC Client to connect to OPC Serversoftware

Interfaces
• a serial connection (COM port, modem or radio link connection)
• an interface card (proprietary or standard network card)
Interface

Subnode
The interface can be:
Nodes (PLCs)
• Unique node number is selected (IGSS node = PLC number)
• Certain PLC types support subnodes(The gateway PLC becomes a “manager node”)
• In Definition: Drivers and node numbers appear on the ”Edit Mapping” tab of an object.

Subnodes
• IGSS only communicates with the manager node, not with the subnode
• Manager node routes the messages to the subnode
• Manager node must have mailbox enabled, which is configured on the Advanced tab.

Suspending nodes online
Change set point to 1 to suspend node.Look for detailed information in the
System Configuration help file
Communication monitoring
Driver status– Right-click the Starter bar,
choose ”Detailed status” in the drop-down menu to view the status of the configuration’s PLC drivers.
Driver objectMonitors the communication at driver level
Node status objectMonitors the communication at node level
Remote connection status objectMonitors a remote connection
Dialup objectManually connect to, fetch historical data and disconnect from remote connection
Dialsuspend object”Dialup object” plus suspend and resume remote connection
Online suspend node objectUsed to suspend a node during supervision
Communication objects
Driver test and troubleshooting –T7T in the Utilities folder
T7T Driver Test programMonitors the communication betweenIGSS and the driver(s).Data can be viewed or data can be sent to the PLC (Send Packet).Data can be filtered by driver ID, node, data group, word, etc.
Log fileScan file with all data packets going between IGSS and the driver can be written. The log file – T7T.scn - will use the filter applied. The configuration scan file -<MyConfig>.scn –cannot be filtered.
Quick instructor demo
Please look and listen while the instructor quickly
goes through the creation procedure in
System Configuration.
