Welcome.... to another year of
Small World working
with creatively with
young people. Still
surviving the cuts
and finding that
more young people
need support and
that they need wider
support than ever as
the state of the na-
tion continues to
impact on the lives
of those most in
need.
We have had the end of When Words Fail, Music
Speaks in April…..but thanks to a second suc-
cessful bid to Youth Music, Music Speaks Loud
and Clear began in October with the music team
keeping a regular session going in between on a
voluntary basis.
May saw the start of Tune Up Chill Out, funded
by Children In Need and staffed by Dawn and
Cherita. This homework support group will work
with groups of young people over three years to
ensure they achieve their potential in education
and personal development.
PitStop ran until September offering support to 1-
17 year olds who are classed as NEETs. This is
another development area though there was a
realisation that funding for NEETs needed to be
flexible to allow us to work more effectively with
the young people involved.
We saw the end of 3 years of Big Art which in-
cluded Saturday Club and Rock Band, a sad
time as Chloes’ role at Small World came to an
end, and just as the attendance of young people
had increased massively with a great diverse
group coming regularly.
This year also saw
another lantern
Parade and com-
munity involvement
in the Big Local
project; an Exhibi-
tion of Postcards of
Keighley at Cliffe
Castle and contin-
uation of work in
Holycroft School.
