Social Narrative
For The
Autism Friendly Performance
Of
Palace Theatre
1564 Broadway
New York, NY 10036
I will go to the
Palace Theatre
to see the show.
The theatre is located at
1564 Broadway
New York, NY 10036
I may have to stand in
line. If I stand in line I will
stay with [insert name/s]
and try to be quiet.
Inside someone will tell
us where to go. They are
called an Usher.
The Usher will scan my
ticket so I can get into the
theatre.
I can use the bathroom or
get a drink of water at the
water fountain before I go
into the theatre.
I may have to take an
elevator to get to my
seat.
I will go into the theatre.
The theatre is big.
The theatre will be
decorated to look like
Bikini Bottom. I will see
streamers on the walls.
The streamers are for
decoration and should
not be touched.
On the side of the stage
there will be a live band
playing.
There are a lot of seats in
the theatre!
I will hand my tickets to
the Usher so they can
show me where my seats
are.
The numbers on our
tickets tell us where we
have to sit. It is not a
choice.
The Usher will give us a
Playbill. A Playbill is a
book. I can look at the
Playbill with [insert
name/s].
The theatre will get dark
and quiet. I will try to be
quiet during the show so I
can hear everything.
I will see actors wearing
costumes walking on the
stage. The singers and
dancers may come close
to me. They are actors
wearing costumes and
makeup, like on
Halloween.
Real people will be
playing the characters
from SpongeBob. The
voices of the actors will
not match the voices of
the cartoon.
I will try to stay in my
seat. If I feel scared, I
can cover my ears,
squeeze a fidget, hold
[insert name/s] hand, or
hug [insert name/s]
After each song people
will clap.
Clapping tells the actors
you liked their song. If I
want to clap, I can.
During the show there will
be some loud sounds like
a siren or fog horn.
If the sounds or clapping
are too loud I can ask for
ear plugs or headphones
to help make it quieter.
There will be a break.
This is called
intermission. During the
intermission people will
leave the theatre to get a
drink, eat a snack or to
use the bathroom. I can
leave with [insert name/s]
to get a drink, eat a snack
or use the bathroom.
After the intermission
everyone will come into
the theatre and sit down
in their seats. The theatre
will get dark and quiet. I
will try to be quiet during
the show so I can hear
everything. The actors
will come on the stage
and finish the SpongeBob
show.
At the end of the show
there will be confetti and
streamers. Beach balls
will be passed around the
audience. It’s a
celebration and I can
participate.
After the show is over,
we’ll go out of the Palace
Theatre.
I am so excited to see
SpongeBob SquarePants
on Broadway!
