Sor Juana de la Cruz

• 1648- Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz de Asbaje y Ramirez was born in a small village called San Miguel Nepantla. Her mother was Isabe Ramirez. Her father was Pedro Manuel de Asbaje.

New Baby Girl

• 1651- Sor Juana went to a school for girls. She learns to read at this school from one of the teachers. However, this was against her religion for a women to learn to read and write.

• 1659- Sor Juana was sent to live with her aunt in Mexico City. When she got there she had already known a lot of things and had a fantastic memory. She was known there as a prodigy.

Mexico City

• 1667- August 14, Sor Juana enters the convent of the Discalced Carmelites of St. Joseph. Once she was there for awhile, she decided to then leave because this convent was to strict. She leaves on November 18th the same year.

• 1669- February 24, Sor Juana enters the Convent of the Order of St. Jerome. She stays at this convent for the rest of her life. At this convent she had private quarters and servants.

• 1673- Sor Juana had gotten a knew head Archbishop. She was headed by Archbishop Friar Payo Enr iques de Ribera. However, he does not follow out her intelligence.

Intelligence

• 1676-1691 - Sor Juana had written many poems and plays. Some of the poems were; phyllis, the divine lysis, my lady, i approach and i withdrawl, disillusionment, on the death of that most excellent lady Marquise de Mancera, and You Men. These are only some of her poems.

• 1695- Plague enters the convent. Sor Juana gets the plague. She dies April 17th, 1295 at age 46.
