Marine Rescue Ballina has just taken delivery of a 10m Naiad built by Yamba Welding & Engineering. This is the sister vessel of the Trial Bay vessel deliv-ered in June 2013 and features a stepped hull and custom lock up cabin. Pow-ered with twin Suzuki 250hp engines and fitted with Raymarine electronics, this vessel is the third 10m Naiad built by Yamba Welding for Marine Rescue NSW.

The boat completed successful sea trials at Yamba and was driven north to Ballina by the Unit Commander and his crew. The whole crew were extremely happy with the performance and noted the stability of the Naiad. These vessels are renowned for their sea-keeping abilities, handling and responsiveness.

As with Trial Bay the Ballina vessel is fitted with a foam filled collar system which has proven reliable and tough in extreme conditions. Marine Rescue NSW has now signed up for two more Naiad vessels with foam filled collars, one 10m and one 9.5m.

Naiad vessels continue to be the preferred RIB in Australia and internationally with strong sales in Western Australia, USA and China, including five 17.3m pilot boats for a Chinese port.
