GP Research - To support the development of research into general practice STI testing

Key Project

• University of Western Sydney researchers

• Conducting a process and impact evaluation of STIPU resources for GPs and Practice Nurses

• Process – how the resources were planned, delivered and received by the target

audience,

• Impact – what outcomes were achieved and the extent to which the GP Project

aims were achieved.

• Consult individuals & stakeholders through online surveys, interviews and focus groups.

STI CONTACT TRACING & GP RESEARCH

STI Contact Tracing - To strengthen contact tracing measures across the state including Sexual Health Services and General Practice

Key Project Areas

• Promotion, distribution and in some cases development of Contact Tracing Resources for General Practice

• Supporting Publicly Funded Sexual Health Clinic– Update of Contact Tracing SOP

– Exploration of Contact Tracing Quality Assurance Activities

– Supporting clinics in providing STI education to general practice

• Participating and contributing to the review of NSW Contact Tracing Guidelines for STI and BBV policy directive

NSW SEXUAL HEALTH INFOLINE

Aims:• To educate and promote the

sexual health of the community.

• To facilitate efficient use of public funded sexual health clinics.

• Staffed by team of 4 nurses:

– sexual health clinical experience (CNS)

– Phone line training

• Computerised database and web based resources.

• Database of SHC business hours and skill mix.

2009/2010: 6, 200 calls in NSW

GSAHS:

• 86 community calls

• 21 health professionals

• 5 doctors, 9 nurses, 7 allied health
