Spontaneous Speaking• The Simple Guide

To The Art Of “getting it right with instant answers and spontaneous speeches”

“It’s all right to have butterflies in your stomach. Just get them to fly in formation.” – Rob Gilbert

Anxiety!!!!• Greet it!

• It is normal – 85% of people say they get anxious before speaking publicly!

You Are Not Performing!

When you perform, like play a specific

note, you either do it right or wrong

You Should Acknowledge It’s a Conversation

• There is no right and wrong in a conversation!

Start with a question

• Interaction is useful; it helps calm you down (conversation mode) and it keeps the audience in their attention span

Don’t Physically or Mentally Alienate Yourself From Your Audience:

• Instead of listing steps as step1, step2, step3….

You could instead start by saying, “first we do this, then we do that….”• Don’t use sophisticated words if they

weren’t necessary; remember it’s a conversation!

Be Present Oriented Not Future Oriented/ Worried of Outcome

• To help you, listen to songs, take a walk, count backwards, or say tongue twisters right before you go on stage.

And As To The

Feared Q/A:

Everyone Reacts When Asked A Question

•Don’t React RESPOND!!!!!!!!

First Spend Your Time Listening Not

Thinking

Respond With A Structure

•Problem – Solution – Benefit•What? – So What? - Now

What?

If The Question Is Hostile, Paraphrase IT!

• This allows you to rephrase the question and have enough time to respond.• Paraphrasing is like the Swiss

Army knife of communication.

• “Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind” – Rudyard Kipling

We hope this presentation was helpful.Best of luck in your future endeavors
