In January 2014, California’s Governor Jerry
Brown announced an emergency drought.
With California currently experiencing its worst
drought in recorded state history, State water
officials have confirmed that rivers and
reservoirs are below their record lows. Brown
calls for action, stating, “We can’t make it
rain, but we can be much better prepared for
the terrible consequences that California’s
drought now threatens...I’ve declared this
emergency and I’m calling all Californians to
conserve water in every way possible.” At the
February 24th City Council meeting, the City of
Pomona City Council enacted voluntary water
use restrictions, asking for a 20% reduction in
water use from residents and local
businesses. For information on how you can
do your part in this important effort, check out
some key water saving tips on the next page.

2014 Annual Water Quality Report2014 Annual Water Quality Report2014 Annual Water Quality Report2014 Annual Water Quality Report
At the City of Pomona, we believe in keeping residents as informed as possible. So, beginning July 1, 2014 the City of Pomona’s Annual Water Quality Report will be available online! Since 1998, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has required the Water Quality Report be mailed. However, the EPA recently approved
paperless availability of the report, and to provide a direct link to the report.
The new electronic format will save the City money in printing and postage costs as well being environmentally friendly. We thank you for supporting the City of Pomona’s efforts to go green! The report will be available on the City website on July 1, 2014 at: www.ci.pomona.ca.us/mm/
pubworks/water/Pomona2014CCR.pdf.
If you would still like to receive a paper
copy, please call us at (909) 620-2251.

to less than 1 gallon per minute
♦ Putting a new flapper in a leaking toilet can
save 7,000 gallons a month
♦ Don’t use the toilet as a wastebasket! Throw
your trash away in the trash can only
