Respect Life… We are blessed at St. Clare to have such an active “Respect Life Ministry” with a team of parishioners always seeking ways to keep us engaged in important issues around the dignity of all human life. In the parish, we try to be advocates for respecting life in all of
its sacred stages, from conception to natural death. In the month of October we especially focus on advocacy for the sa-cred life of babies in the womb as well as caring for women who face difficult abortion decisions. In case you are not aware, I want to highlight a few ways our Respect Life Team and other parishioners have been active this month: 1. Baby bottles for making donations to support pregnant
women in our area who are without family or financial re-sources.
2. Public witness—by creating a display of 200 crosses along Highway 50 as a reminder to pray for those involved in the tragedy of abortion.
3. Attended a prayer service and a rally in front of the new Planned Parenthood in Fairview Heights.
4. Participated in the prayer “Life Chain” sponsored by the Belleville Area Right to Life.
5. Learned about new ideas at the Respect Life Convention in St. Louis.
What parishioners can still do: 1. Join the “40 Days for Life” campaign and pray outside an
abortion clinic. 2. Pray for the success and support Mosaic Pregnancy &
Health Center which is opening up next to the new abortion clinic in Fairview.
3. Join the Respect Life committee, with info on our website from our great leader Mary Fleming.
4. Pray that all human life is treated as a sacred gift from God! Praise God for each beautiful sacred human being! Fr. Jim Deiters
Please pray for the sick, their loved ones and caregivers, may they never lose sight of the love of God: Randy Allen, Claudene Chunn, Dianne Clark, Peter Dernbach, Theresa Gilreath, Almie Gundlach, Andy Harris, Margaret Heinke,
Mary Herbert, Kennah Hiestand, Nick Hughes, Darlene Hutton, Susan Isaak-Lolis, Liz Klingler, Ami Kovach, Frank Kuca, Dawn Papproth Kuhn, Dr. Tom Levrault, Richard and Mary Anne Orr, George and Mona Peach, Alyssa Peel,
Paul Riley, Megan Saldanha, Mary Ann Seipp, Nay and Anne Shambro, James Stern, Ken Sternberg, John Tiemann, Mike and Diane Vernier, Gib Vollmer, Carl Walker, Patricia Weiler
Please call the parish office if you have a family member that is homebound or in the hospital We pray for our military families, especially those deployed and separated from loved ones.

A special invitation to eighth-graders: The annual Luke 18 retreat provides a powerful experience for eighth graders. Luke 18 opens their eyes to the presence and love of our God, who embraces them just as they are. Led by high school and college students from St. Clare, St. Nicholas and Corpus Christi parishes, the retreat features high-energy games, songs, skits, personal sharing and a series of faith and life talks by the high school students. Fair trade brings attention to people around the world
who work under exploitative conditions and highlights
the true costs of goods in global supply chains.
Organizations, businesses, farmers, workers & artisans
have worked diligently for more than 50 years to make
trade more fair.
Fair trade supports farmers & craftspeople in developing
countries who are socially & economically marginalized.
These producers often face hurdles in finding markets &
customers for their goods.
Our sale features beautiful handmade baskets of various
sizes, designs and colors; various gift and clothing items;
decorations; jewelry; and food stuffs like chocolate, oil,
coffee & tea. In addition to providing a living wage to
workers, profits from the sale of some of these items
also go to benefit some service outreach ministries.
Thank you for buying gifts that benefit both the makers
and recipients!
