Dear Parishioners, In the Beatitudes, our Lord Jesus tells us, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” If we want peace in our world, it begins with each one of us. We all have a personal responsibility to be a peacemaker… within our families, at work, in our parish community, in our city, state, and nation, and in all other areas of
our lives. I invite all of us to pray the prayer of St. Francis everyday: “Lord, make me an instrument of your PEACE Where there is hatred, let me sow LOVE Where there is injury, PARDON Where there is doubt, FAITH Where there is despair, HOPE Where there is darkness, LIGHT And where there is sadness, JOY Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.”
Yours in Christ, Fr. Christian Bui

As Catholics, we believe that all we have is a gift from God. Our response in faith is to offer these gifts back to God in gratitude. Make a gift to St. Edward online at www.archgh.org/parishoffertory, via Faith Direct, mail your
envelope or drop it off at the parish office during business hours.
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION:20th Sunday in Ordinary Time: August 16
That we may show our gratitude for God’s great gifts through our active participation in the ministry of God’s Church.
“For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29
God has a special mission in mind for each of us.
He has given us the gifts we need to accomplish
that mission. We are called to be good stewards
by using those gifts to do the work that He has
planned for each of us. If we deny our gifts or
fail to use them as God calls us to use them,
then some part of His work will be left undone.
During these difficult and trying times, priests of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will be offering spiritual reflection videos to stand firm in faith and hope. Go to https://www.archgh.org/messagesofhopeto view the videos and hear the messages.
As you have noticed, we are installing a new fence and gates. Over the
past several months, we’ve had an increase of suspicious activity on the
church property at night. Some examples were theft of Boy Scout’s
property that was stored in a trailer, people driving cars recklessly in the
parking lot, person(s) peering through windows of the church and other
buildings in the middle of the night. I know this because a few of these
instances were caught on our cameras.
After consulting with those financially competent and discerning over
some time, I decided to move forward with securing our church and
school properties to prevent easy access to the grounds especially during
nighttime.
We still desire to be a welcoming community that invites anyone to
come pray with us even after the fence and gates are installed. So let us
all continue to welcome those that come to the church… when we are
all awake and present.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Christian Bui

Family Rosary
The Knights of Columbus will
lead a Rosary to our Lady on the 5th Sunday of
each month this year. Meet in the Rosary Garden
after the 11:30am Mass on August 30th. All are
welcome to attend.
We only have two more weeks to register for adult
or family faith formation. Adults can register online
for free. Families can register adults and children
online and make their payment online or send it to
the parish.
This is an opportunity for the whole parish
community. Don’t snooze! Don’t miss out! Get
involved, grow in faith, and bond with others as
you strengthen your personal friendship with Jesus
Christ!
We sure hope so! Faith formation for adults and families will
kick off in late September/early October and we are praying
for more catechists, small group leaders, and hall monitors to
join the team and make it possible!
Think about it. Talk about it with Jesus.
Then GO where He sends you!
