CHANGES IN 2013-2014 STAR EVENTS

Post-secondary now includes 6 different events

• Advocacy• Culinary Arts• Early Childhood• Fashion Design• Interior Design• Teach and Train

All secondary (through grade 12) events with the exception of Culinary Arts and the four Online Events will allow two entries per state, per category, for competition at the National Leadership Conference

Applied Technology has been discontinued

New Events include:• Math for Culinary Management• Sports Nutrition• FCCLA Chapter Website ( Online event)

CHANGES IN 2013-2014 STAR EVENTS

Name Changes:

• Chapter Showcase Display has been renamed Chapter in Review Display

• Chapter Showcase Manual has been renamed Chapter in Review Portfolio

• Chapter Service Project Manual has been renamed Chapter Service Project Portfolio

• Early Childhood has been renamed Early Childhood Education

CHANGES IN 2013-2014 STAR EVENTS

All STAR Events with the exception of Culinary Arts and Parliamentary Procedure now must include evidence of completing the online project summary form to receive 1 point on the Point Summary Form. The link to the project summary for is located on the STAR Events Resources page.

Nationals 126; 67 registered for STAR Events

• Culinary – 20 teams

• Recycle and Redesign - 12 teams

• Chapter Service Project Display – 10 teams

• Illustrated Talk – 10 teams

• National Programs in Action – 9 teams

CONCERNS• Impact of Certificate of Completion• Minimum Score for students that compete in

district STAR Events to advance to the state competition level

• Minimum Score at State Star Events to advance to the national competition level

• Occupational STAR Events, should they be taken back to the district level

• Culinary Arts Star Event
