• Sponsor during 5th period class here at FPC.
• This mother daughter team is going on their 9th year with the FPC Starlets which started just as a colorguard program. We have now grown to a competitive dance team as well as an indoor competitive guard.

5th Period Class
• Starlets is a 5th period class which counts as a 1/2 credit towards PE.
• This is a full year course.
• This course is a graded course. Please see Pg. 5 in the Guard Handbook to see daily points and Pg. 12 to see the grading scale.

Goals & Purpose
• Our goal is to create an atmosphere where students strive to become better, overcome their fears, and become people who can succeed in the real world.
• Membership to the FPCHS Colorguard & Dance Program is a
PRIVILEGE not a right!
• RESPONSIBILITY is a MUST!

Marching Season
• Colorguard is the visual portion of the FPC Marching Bulldog Band.
• This portion runs from June - November.
• FBA Assessment - Mandatory (Oct. 25th)

Winterguard Season• This season runs from November - April.
• Practices are two days a week and require many Saturday performances.
• This is an indoor guard program which is not affiliated with the marching band.
• This portion incorporates flags, weapons, and dance all together.

Competitive Dance Team
• Members will perform at school pep rallys, FPC Dance Show, community performances, and Team A will compete at competitions around Florida.
• Practices from June - October will be one day a week used as a conditioning and technique training.
• Starting in November members will audition for Team A or Team B. Practices will increase to two days a week (Wednesday & Friday).
• Students will be required to take 2 hours of class on Wednesday and be at practice on Friday. (Please see calendar)

Dropping the Class
• Due to a lack of 1/2 credit courses this year it will be very difficult to drop Starlets as your 5th period class.
• It is highly encouraged that you continue on to our Winterguard or Dance season.
• Any behavior issues will be removed from the class immediately.

Attendance
• It is extremely important that your daughter/son is at all practices. Since this is a team one person missing affects everyone else.
• Appointments, lack of rides, work, vacations, birthdays, detentions etc WILL NOT be valid excuses for missing a rehearsal or performance.
• Written excuse for an absence is due to Mrs. Albert within two days of the absence. (This note does not go to the school - you will need to provide a copy or additional one to excuse your child from a school absence)

Demerits• Demerits are used to keep a level of
respect and responsibility among the team.
• Please refer to the Demerit handout that has been given to you.

Procedures• Please be sure to read over Section V. Class- Rehearsal -
Performance Procedures & Ettiquette with your daughter or son.
• Cell Phone Use - Students may not have their cell phones out during practice. It becomes a distraction. If there is an emergency you may call Mrs. Albert (386. 299.4398)
• Students may not talk when a captain, staff member, or coach is speaking to them. Students will stand at attention at all times when an authority is speaking to them to ensure that they are actively listening.
• Hair should always be secured away from the face.
• No jewelry for safety reasons during practice or performance.

Practice Uniforms
• Marching Season - Workout style top, black bottoms, sports bra, and sneakers.
• Winterguard Season - Black form fitting dance or exercise clothing and sports bra.
• Dance - Leotard, black bottoms, sports bra, and tights.

Equipment
• Equipment is provided in your fee. (Practice flag and rifle).
• If for some reason your practice flag or rifle breaks it is your responsibility to replace it.

Fee
• Marching & Winterguard Season - $150
• You can pay in full or follow the payment plan seen on the calendar.
• Competition Dance Fee - $75 (Due in Nov.)
• Fundraiser & Sponsorships available to help pay your fee.
