Department Accomplishments

+ Summary AY 2006-2007 +

+Maintained leadership in research

+ Continued teaching prowess

+Animal facility now funded by Office of Research, we save at least $26 000/year

We are also losing anotherdevoted teacher

Brian Dyer will be leavingthis summer. . .

after teachingand researching in our department for many years.

After 29 years (!!) as Chief Department Advisor,

Kneeland Nesius steps down. . .

but continues to serve the department in numerous other ways

Plus---our new dean, Chris Platsoucas, is a biologist

and has an appointment in our department

During the past year our faculty and students have won numerous grants and awards, held offices in

national and international organizations, appointed to national and international committees been nominated for the most prestigious

university awards ---and much more!

Our Endowments More than Tripled in the past Four Years!

In fact, last year we receivedmore money in gifts and endowments than any time in the history of the department.
