Stepping Into Internship Program - Position DescriptionThe Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses.
Position Title
Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment - Communications and Administration Officer
Location
Canberra
Position Duration
Minimum of 152 hours
Position Overview
Farm Household Allowance
An opportunity is available in the Farm Household Allowance (FHA) team. This is a small team based in the Marcus Clarke building in Canberra, currently comprising a Director, two Assistant Directors, and an APS6. The intern would be mentored by one of the Assistant Directors.
FHA is a package of assistance that provides fortnightly income support and supplementary payments to give recipients breathing space to identify barriers to their long-term financial self-sufficiency, and case management support to address the issues. The program is delivered to individuals by Services Australia and the department has policy oversight of the program.
The intern would have the opportunity to :
Help shape the communications messages. In particular, there are lots of positive stories contained in the Exit Surveys that many former recipients have completed. These are useful as testimonials and can be converted into a range of ‘good news’ stories. The intern would be responsible for reviewing the responses, categorising them and putting forward cases for good news stories, and/ or
Reviewing how recipients use their Activity Supplement over time, and/or
Reviewing random samples of assessments and agreements that are part of the case management.
This role would suit a person with inquisitive skills and who likes to pull diverse data into ordered sets.
We are currently working flexibly, with a mixture of office and working from home arrangements. We anticipate that this will still be the case during the internship. We are
