VJIT CAMPUS

Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT), Hyderabad

was established in 1999 to impart quality technical education

to the aspiring young students in the fields of Engineering.

The vision is to provide the nation with an institution that

fosters the development of futuristic professionals.

VJIT has a sprawling and lush green campus with an

area of 12 acres. State of the art laboratories have the latest

equipment and a pool of well qualified professors who can

provide a direction and orientation to the students in their

learning process to discover a path of their own and to learn

from within. The students are trained completely so as to

make them competent individuals capable of handling their

careers and lives effectively.

CHAPTER ACTIVITIES:

• Chapter Officers elections

On January 3rd we conducted elections to elect the chapter

officers and the results are as follows

OPTICS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

(Jan 12th 2019)

A fund from the activity grant received from SPIE has been

set aside for optics education, student research and outreach

programs. A number of outreach programs at nearby schools

were organized. The program aimed to create awareness and

interest in optics and photonics. The targeted group was

mainly underprivileged kids and underprivileged schools. The

student members actively took part in preparing models and

handouts for the event. The student members came up with

fun experiments, easy activities, interesting facts and other

resources related to optics for the kids. At the end of the event

a quiz was conducted and optical kits were given out o kids

who answered correctly. This was mainly to increase their

enthusiasm and interest towards optics and photonics. Posters

and optical kits were also left with the schools for future use

by kids. We received a god response from the kids al through

and look forward to continue with a potential to impact a

large audience.

SPIE student member demostrating optics phenomena

students were enthuastic to observe the multiple paths of laser

beam transmitted and reflected from the various mirrors in the

setup.

of splitting of white light into VIBGYOR colours using

RAINBOW PEEPHOLE

Students made to understand the basic principles of

physics instruments used in the school laboratory.

learning With Physics” in IIT MADRAS

Member Rosters attended the seminar and had explained

about our Chapter exposure to the students of various

universities

• Chapter Recruitment Program 2019(Jan 21st 2019):

We have conducted a Chapter Recruitment Program giving

the knowledge about SPIE Chapter to the students and

encouraging them to join the Chapter.

• SPIE Chapter General Body Meeting( 21th feb 2019)

We discussed about the Visiting lecture that to be conducted

on March 3rd by Sir. Amol Choudhary (Asst. Prof. IIT Delhi)

• Visiting Lecture by Amol Choudhary(Asst.

Prof. IIT Delhi) on “High Performance

Chip-Based Microwave Photonics” under

SPIE AND OSA.

VJIT-SPIE Students at Outreach Program

Future Plans • Planning to conduct guest lecture in July month.

• Planning to arrange an Industrial tour in August month.

• To keep the chapter active by motivating students to carry out scientific

activities and interact with industry experts and academic scholar.

• To visit industries, research centers and University laboratories. • Organize student interaction programs.

• Conduct more local outreach programs to provide basic understanding for

children at schools and colleges.
