“You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you
made me; wonderful are your works! My very self you knew; my bones were not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth. Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my
days were shaped, before one came to be.” – Psalms 139:13-16

JANUARY 17, 2021 • SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
We have been experiencing a lot of confusion and upheaval in our country over the past couple of weeks. I would invite everyone to pray for our country, our parish, and your families. Perhaps even consider doing a pre-Lenten fast or sacrifice for these intentions, along with praying for our young people, which is this month’s intention for our Holy Angels. As I noted last week, we are changing up some things with communication at Holy Angels to better communicate with our people. We have changed up our parish’s Facebook page. We were posting many things a day which made it difficult to use the Holy Angels Facebook page to communicate happenings at Holy Angels to everyone who subscribes to our Facebook page. We are still trying to work out what is going to be communicated, so please be patient with me and the parish staff as we try to improve our relationship with all of you. I will be on retreat the week of January 25-29. This is well timed for me as the rigors and responsibilities of pastorship have shown me that I need to take some time away with the Lord to recharge my spiritual batteries, especially as we prepare for Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday (February 17.) Know I will be praying for all of you and ask that you pray for me. A big thank-you to our parish council and parish picnic chairs who have helped to ensure we move forward with the parish picnic. They have also been a huge help in keeping me on track and ensuring that we try to stay positive about what is going well at Holy Angels, along with pointing out areas that need improvement and helping me to work on ways to improve the above mentioned areas. Peace in Christ,Fr. Jarred Kohn
Friday, January 22 is the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn
Children.
In all the Dioceses of the United States of America, January 22nd shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion.
8:45 a.m. Mass and Rosary will be offered for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament begins following the 8:45 a.m. Mass and continues throughout the day until 6:00 p.m.
In order to convert America and save the World, what we need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in Holy Hours of prayer. – St. Mother Teresa
Please visit the Sanctity of Life Month display table at the back of church for the Day of Prayer sign-up sheet for Adoration Guardians needed.
Pray for Life, Marriage and Religious Liberty!
“Christ made my soul beautiful with the jewels of grace and virtue. I belong to Him whom the angels serve.” – St. Agnes
PARISH PRAYER INTENTION FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY

their life.”
2021 MASS INTENTIONS – Please stop by the Parish Office to schedule Mass intentions. All parishioners of Holy Angels are allowed one weekend and three weekday Mass intentions for the calendar year of 2021. THURSDAY, JANUARY 21, 2021ANNUAL PRO-LIFE CANDLELIGHT VIGIL AT 6:00 P.M.
The annual Candlelight Vigil will be held Thursday, January 21 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in anticipation of the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton SCOTUS cases the following day. At this time each year, we sadly commemorate the court decisions that canceled out state laws in 1973, throughout the nation, which had protected children and families from abortion. The court action made abortion legal nationwide, essentially through all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason. The event will be held at the Shelby County Courthouse in Sidney with prayer for the current Supreme Court and other federal courts, with hope they will bring a fresh Constitutional, ethical perspective to abortion laws. Our guest speakers will be Nathan and Molly Verdier, founders of Morgan’s Place Cemetery, who recently testified for the passage of an Ohio law requiring humane burial of babies who die from abortion. All are welcome to join us for this special hour of prayer!Information about Right to Life of Shelby County and membership forms are available for you on the display table at the back of church.

SAINT OF THE WEEK
ST. AGNES OF ROMESt. Agnes of Rome was born in 291 AD to a Christian family. Agnes was very beautiful and her hand in marriage was highly sought after. However, her love for the Lord was so great that she dedicated her life only to God. Whenever a man wished to marry Agnes, she would always say, "Jesus Christ is my only Spouse
One of her rejected suitors turned her over to the authorities for the crime of being a Christian. She was eventually condemned to death. Legend has it that even the pagans cried to see such a young and beautiful girl going to death. Yet, Agnes was as happy as a bride on her wedding day. She did not pay attention to those who begged her to save herself. She simply prayed and bowed her head for the death-stroke of the sword. She was thirteen years old.
St. Agnes is widely known as the patron saint of young girls. Just like her statue here at Holy Angels, Agnes is often represented with a lamb, the symbol of her virgin innocence, and a palm branch, like other martyrs. Her feast day is celebrated on January 21.
