Sugar & Spice shows us how our actions can affect ourselves and others. Our actions matter and we have to be accountable for them, which means taking
responsibility for what we do and say.
1. Fill a glass dish with water and add pepper. The pepper represents all of the people you know such as your family, friends, classmates, and teacher.
2. Dip the bar of soap in the middle of the pepper. The bar of soap represents negative actions and hurtful words.
*Notice how the pepper moves away from the soap. This is what happens when people choose to be mean and act like a bully because people don’t like being around these negative actions.
3. Pour sugar in the middle of the pepper to represent positive actions like being kind and thoughtful to others.
*Watch how the pepper moves towards the sugar. People want to be around those who are sweet and nice to others, just like the pepper wants to be around the sugar.
