Program

1 New Merit Badge

Where is Forensic Biology Activity?

• Renamed – Crime Prevention and Fingerprinting merit badge on Merit Badge & Activity Matrix

• Same activities as Forensic Biology activity• Scouts new earn partial in Crime Prevention Merit Badge

Activity – ATV PowerSports

• Scouts complete the ATV Safety Institute RiderCourse• Teaches safe ATV riding, handling, maintenance• Teaches Tread Lightly techniques

• Scouts must be 14 years old or older• 2 parts of ASI RiderCourse

• Online portion: E-course• Certificate of completion must be submitted at 12-day-out

meeting• Practical portion: S-course

• Taught during camp

Activity – ATV PowerSports

• Limited to 8 Scouts per session• Different Time Schedule

• Allows 32 Scouts per week to participate• Scouts may need to eat breakfast/lunch at a different

time than the troop in order to make it to class on time

Processes & Procedures

Adults in Camp (New for 2020)

• Old North State Council Policy• Effective immediately, any adult who spends at least one night while

accompanying a Scouting unit to a long-term camp activity, sponsored by the Old North State Council or any of its agents, must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America with a completed criminal background check and completed mandatory Youth Protection Training.

• Suggest you submit BSA adult leader applications by April 1• Verified through the Unit Aging Report submitted during the 12-day-

out meeting

Adults in Camp (New for 2019)

• Must have 2 adult leaders in camp 21-years old or over in camp at all times.

• There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females.

Fees & Payments

• Early Bird: Pay $110 by Thursday, March 12 to receive a $20 discount on total camp fee.

• Late Fee: After Thursday, May 28, a $10 late fee will be added to the registration fee.

• Fees are the same for in-council and out-of-council units. • Campership Deadline: Thursday, April 22

• Camperships are available to in-council and out-of-council units

• Payment 1 deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable.

Scouts who join your unit after summer camp payments begin automatically receive the early bird discount.

60% Capacity Rule

•Payment 1: $115 per camper is due by Thursday, March 26. The total amount of Payment 1 for the unit must be equal to or exceed 60% of the campsite capacity.

• NOTE: If your unit notifies the Old North State Council prior to Thursday, March 12 that it will need less than 60% of your campsite’s capacity, the unit will only be held responsible for the number of Scouts it reported at that time unless more are added. This notification allows us to open the remaining part of your campsite to other units.

Refunds

• Payment 1 ($115 deposits) is nonrefundable, but is transferable. • Once the camper has paid more than $115, the refund amounts will

not exceed 50% of the funds paid at the time of the refund regardless of circumstances.

• Refunds should be requested during the unit’s 12-Day-Out Meeting. • Refund requests are only approved by the camp director.

Adult Leader Fee

• Each unit receives 2 free adult leaders• $145 per adult leader over 2• Must be paid by May 28• $8.50 per meal

Leader Mugs

• Adult leaders who stay in camp for the entire week receive a leader mug

• Additional leader mugs can be pre-ordered

• $6 per mug• Pre-order due May 14• Include with other unit pre-order• Delivered on Sunday at camp

• Unit information loaded from ScoutNet into Summer Camp Systems

Merit Badge Enrollment

• CHANGE• Default setting is 4 weeks prior to you arriving at camp• For units who are current with Payment 1, merit badge enrollment

begins the first weekend in April.• Weeks 1, 2, & 3: Friday, April 3 at 8:00 pm• Weeks 4, 5, & 6: Saturday, April 4 at 8:00 pm

BSA Health Forms

• New Form (Print date of 2019) – preferred• Will accept old form (Print date of 2014)• Must have new form starting 2021• Required by everyone• Must be completed annually• Submit copies at 12-day-out meeting• Everyone has a re-check on Sunday at camp• Physical clinic
