sysaux tablespace

We got sysaux tablespace full alert i checked and saw the rentention period to be 31 days and so i reduced

the period to 15 days and purged the old data . The issue resolved. But management wants to know why it

happened from last 2 weeks when the retention period was same from past 7 months . What must have

changed with sysaux and who changed it how can i find out. Pls help

Santosh Kamana see oracle will maintain the backup of optimizer statistic automatically and this information storedin OPTSTAT table under SYSAUX Tablespace, if your retention period is 31 days and it will keep information of 31days and remains will purge automatically.purging of this information is not scheduled using any mechanism.evenit's not present in dba_jobs or dba_scheduler_jobs.this is handled by MMON background process internally.andMMON do this activity once in 24HRS for 5 MINS only. if it's cannot be completes in this mean time it will leave thetask.so the optimizer static report remains same in SYSAUX tablespace. for example: today optimizer statistic sizeis 1GB and it will delete 200MB in that mean time then remaining space will consumed in SYSAUX tablespace onlyso this way it will get filled.
