The Taj Mahal was a palace for the emperors wife Mumtaz Mahal. It was made out of white marble.

It was under construction from 1632 to 1648.That’s over 350 years ago.

The Taj Mahal was built in Agra which is in north India, as you can see on the map.

Why

The Taj Mahal was built for the emperors wife because she died the year before and her husband made it for her for a memory.

It is now one of the wonders of the world

How

It took over 20,000 workers to build it, they were taken from all over the world to build it.

The emperor blinded the chief architect and cut his hands of to make sure he would never design anything as beautiful ever again.
