“Hoje, as câmeras têm mui-tos recursos automatizados.
Somos apenas expectadores.”
With a more than 20-year career taking nature photos, Adriano Gambarini guar-antees that he never shoots with the end result in mind. Keeping focus on the situ-ations is one of his secrets. “First, observe the moment, take the time to photograph it with your mind. And after with your camera,” says the photographer, who has a degree in geology and started out docu-menting caves for academic research.
Gambarini’s first tip is that occa-sional photographers get to know their equipment well. “These days, cameras have lots of automated features. But don’t get used to them. Read the manual and learn how to use your camera,” he says.
A good photograph is also the result of the change in the photographer’s vision of his or her subject. “You start to notice that the world exists by itself, and it’s there for everyone to enjoy. Things don’t happen because of us. We’re just spectators.”
“play around and look for various characteristics of the scene that you’re portraying. Look for different shapes, textures and angles. there are no rules.”
