p 61-62 in Classroom habitudes by Angela Maiers2. Keynote by Angela Maiers3. Students blog and share

www.madaboutmattering.com Background Info

www.madaboutmattering.com Project Aims1. To use compassion driven innovation & collaborative teamwork to develop an

app that matters to the world

2. To facilitate collaborative social entrepreneurial teams using leading computer science technology to create apps that tackle important problems to the students

3. To develop a network of supporters and investors to help fund & develop student apps and take them to market.

4. To document & demonstrate the next generation of global collaboration harnessing the power of collaborative technology, social media, and emerging partnerships of organizations wanting to help students pursue their passions and become excellent collaborators in the world today.

5. To create a duplicable model of quad-engineering where four classrooms work together to solve important global problems and release that model as an open education resource (OER) for teachers around the world to use and adapt.

6. To ensure that students are not just consumers of technology, but also creators of it.

www.madaboutmattering.com What is quad engineering?

Kids have been writing together using quad blogging.

With programming, STEM and compassion-based student projects growing, we need to develop a way for classrooms to co-engineer together. We’re calling this quad engineering.

www.madaboutmattering.com NOTE!

NOTE: This timeline may change. After the other three classrooms are selected, we will discuss specific issues with timeframe. Vicki’s school is out the week of May 20th so efforts will be made to get this done by then. Some dates may be changed for standardized testing or exams in some schools. We can work with schools within reason.

One of our secrets of success is the weekly teacher meetings!

Recorded and sent to all teachers

Expect to have them weekly for the first 5-6 weeks and then as needed (usually bi-weekly)

Make sure you read your email!

Communication is key

We are in alpha modeWe are taking what Vicki

has learned from more than 20 collaborative projects + Choose2Matter knowledge from Angela + Top-notch

app development expertise from Alefiya to create

something new!
